pantech burst screen went dark soon when making a call

My Pantech screen went dark as soon as I dialed a call.  I did not have this problem when I first received the phone.  However, after about a month, it happened.  I returned the 1st one, but the 2nd one is having the same problem.  It's not a screen display timeout problem because it stays on for the 1 min that I set with other functions.  It's only when I  make a call or push the button on top, it would go dark within a sec.  It's a big headache because I can't enter anything when prompted during a call.  Any help on how to fix this will be highly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. As soon as I dial a number it goes black. I actually had to turn on the function where my power button ends the call because I can't do anything when i'm on the phone. I hate this phone. The only reason why I got it was because my other phone broke and i'm waiting until I can upgrade. There isno way I know of to fix the problem. Restarting the phone won't fix. No setting to fix. Ican't even delete voicemails. Best bet. New phone.

If it's still under warranty, I'd give them a call and have it replaced again or maybe they can offer another model.

Sounds like the proximity sensor went bad. You can turn it off in the settings somewhere as a workaround, as it only functions to turn the display off when the phone is at your face during a call, but beware of cheeky shenanigans from errant touchscreen use. ;-)
