I called AT&T (tech support) to unlock an older Samsung UGH837 phone that we had in our collection. I don't throw away our old phones when upgrading. They've come in handy when a problem occurs.
I called to have this phone unlocked as my grandson broke his phone and he has 4 months before he can get a new one free. So I told him he could use this one once I got it unlocked.
The tech I worked with followed me through the unlock. Put my grandson's sim card (not AT) and it worked. Then all of a sudden it quite working? Why ?
When I boot up the phone it says to "put sim card in", but it's already in. I tried both his sim and my att sim. Neither one worked. Is it possible that ATT pulled the phone back ?
Can anyone give me info on what I should do now ?
P.S. Like now I licked on POST and got this page
P.S....are there any how to's posted on how to navigate these web pages. I'm having a hard time trying to find answers to my postings.
Thanks in advance for your help !

ok, so you got the AT&T tech to unlock ur old Samsung so that it could be used with any carrier that also uses SIM cards? If so, didyou put another carrier's SIM card in the phone? If ur going to use another carrier, you must have a paid SIM card fromthat carrier so the phone will work. If u used the SIM card from aT&T, was it an active card? If it was an old one, it may have worked while the tech walked
u thru the unlock and once done, the SIM card stopped working.
Now, if ur grandson has it or is going to use it, he should be able to use the SIM card from his broken phone. That is if his phone uses a SIM card.
Hope I made sense. If not,ask more questions.
