Are iPhone and Tilt data plans interchangeable? I want to use the iPhone while at home but would like to use the Tilt when I am travelling (I have a GPS program on the Tilt). If I move the SIM from the iPhone to the Tilt, will the iPhone data plan cover whatever data usage that the Tilt will incur?

It should work. I've moved my wife's iPhone SIM to my Tilt and had no problem accessing internet. However, because of the current iPhone restriction on MMS, when the iPhone SIM is inserted in any other phone, the MMS restriction in retained.
I understand that it will work. Question is: will the iPhone data plan 'absorb' the data usage that the Tilt will incur while it is using the iPhone SIM? Or will I get hit with additional (and potentially huge) data charges because I do not have the appropriate MediaNet data plan on the Tilt?

Doesn't the iPhoney have a GPS?
It has a GPS chip but there are no real GPS applications that you could find on Windows phones like Garmin and Tomtom. I am using iGuidance on my Tilt and have been using that app on various Windows phones since 2005. So the iPhoney is at least 5 years behind Windows when it comes to real GPS apps. Heck, it finally got basic features like cut-and-paste and MMS only this month, 2 years after it first hit the market. It is also amazing how iPhoney fanatics are getting into a frenzy over the possibilty of having tethering later this year, something Windows phones had 5 years ago.
OK, OK, I got the iPhoney as a birthday gift from my daughter and I did not want to break her heart. So I am using it while I am at home and pretending to like it. But once I travel out of town, I plan to switch back to my old reliable Tilt.

And since the pricing is the same, one can argue that there has been no harm, no foul...IMO.

Thanks. I also called Customer Service and she said the same thing. Apparently, the sales agent at the AT&T store (who told me I would need a different data plan if I were to switch SIM back and forth) did not know what he was talking about.

Technically, this is NOT supposed to work. Although I agree that it's silly, you do run the risk of being charged PPU Internet if you swap your SIM from one phone to the other and don't change to the appropriate data plan. Just thought I should throw that caveat out there.

If i understand it correctly, so if I want to do it 'by the book' and avoid the possibility of PPU Internet charges, I should:
- Call Customer Service
- Change my data plan from iPhone data plan to PDA data plan
- Move the SIM from iPhone to Tilt
And if later in the day I want to switch back and avoid being charged for not having the correct iPhone data plan, I should:
- Call Customer Service
- Change my data plan from PDA data plan to iPhone data
- Move the SIM from Tilt to iPhone
If, I want to do it 'by the book'....
