iPhone: Can't hear unless on speakerphone solution

I've read posts where people are trying to find out why their iphone sound just went off and they cannot hear to make calls or receive calls unless on speakerphone. Everyone is saying it's a glitch and that they are furious. Actually, I just had this problem and resolved it by using a can of compressed air and cleaning out the headphone plug hole at the top left of the phone. I found a discussion board elsewhere on the internet about blowing into the hole and that worked for EVERYONE on the board. It didn't work for me the first time, so I used the can of compressed air and really blew it out, cleaning it in every direction in the hole, and, oila, it worked. Try it. I really think this will help just about everyone with this frustration. Good luck!
