Couldn't they throw us a bone with Mobile 7 "lite"? Seems really dumb to orphan new hot machines without any upgrade.

They will have Windows Phone 7 Series Starter Edition which will be based on WM 6.5.x

Lets not forget the other restriction MS has for Win 7 Phones. Actually its more a requirement than restriction I suppose. The phone can only have the 3 buttons as well. MS is being very strict with their guidelines for Win 7 series phones. Its not just the specs of the hardware inside. No more than 3 buttons. I guess there is plenty of time for them to change their minds on this but thats where it stands as of now.
I dont mind the hardware specs requirement, I actually welcome it. I do wonder why they are restricting a phone to just 3 buttons. Sure I understand they want people to use the touchscreen for most things, but in some cases its just easier to use buttons for some functions such as volume
