Will my unread texts transfer to a new phone?

My phone fell in my sister's drink on the 5th. We put it in rice for three days, and I turned it on when it looked like there was no water in the screen. When I turned it on, the screen did not. I'm assuming I'll need to get a new phone, but I would like to read the texts I got over my birthday (it was the next day after the incident). Is there a way to do that?

Only if the phone did not receive the texts when you turned it on. If the phone received the texts and you could not read them, they are lost. If the phone did not turn on and receive the texts, they are still on the server and when you get a new phone, it will receive them.

Even if I go to the store tomorrow, there's no way they can at least show me the texts?!

sorry, nope. There needs to be a phone activated with your information in order to get the messages from the server, if they are still there.

Okay well I got a new phone, so that would be the phone activated with my infro right?

Yes. Now, if the text messages have not been opened, you should have them. There's an app called SMSBackup from the app store that is free. You set it up to backup your text messages however often you want and if for some reason you have to get the phone worked on, they won't be lost.

What sort of phone was it? If it was an Android phone, it's possible that you would have been able to pull mmssms.db through ADB and push them onto your new phone.

it was the htc fusion and i got the htc fusion 2

Do you still have your old phone? If so, do you remember if you had USB Debugging on in your settings? Lastly, was your phone rooted?

Yes I still have it. It didn't do the usb debugging and no it wasn't.

Ah, darn it. In order to pull the .db, you'd need to have had USB debugging on and have a rooted phone, as the file resides in a system folder that is otherwise inaccessable. Sorry bud :\
