I just wanted to share an experience I had regarding my HTC Inspire that was stolen today. I had this phone a total of 2 days when it was stolen from me at work. I was able to go online and suspend service online. I then saw that I can call a 800# to further block the esn. The customer service agent, Beverly, answered all my questions. The phone is basically now worthless to the thief that stole it. I asked if the phone could be unlocked and I was told that the only way to unlock it is through AT&T, which they wont do because it's blacklisted. I was told that with the uptick in smartphone thefts, AT&T instituted some brand new system for further making these phone unusable, about 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure exactly how it works but I hope this lowers the value for these phones on the black market.
