Palm Centro Problem

I just got my Palm Centro today in the mail. It wont turn on so when I plugged in the charger, the notification light is red. Is it suppose to be red when charging or is it completely dead and I need to wait till it cahrges for a while? Please Help! Thanks!

The light on the upper left of the Centro should be RED while charging, and GREEN when done charging, but still plugged in.

Get a new battery. The phone seems to be fine.
