EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY

My phone just started saying SOS Emergency calls only. This has never happened before. It also says that I need to insert the sim card. I have taken out my sim card and re-inserted it multiple times. What can I do to make this stop?

Go to an AT&T store and ask for a new SIM card. There should be no charge for a new card.
