This is my very first time signing a contract with AT&T and it has been a nightmare for the past 6 months. I have no service in my own home, which is scary, weak signal, drops calls, and can't text message. The worst thing about it is I can't get any support from AT&T. I feel like I'm paying monthly for nothing. The only thing I do like about the SHARP FX is the TV. But, I'm sure I can find that through someone else. Anyway I hope everyone else is pleased with there service because I am not. Not in the least. So I will soon be canceling my contract I can't survive 2 years with this crap its depressing.

Obviously you live in a poor coverage area. Where you previously using a service provider that worked for you and if so, why did you leave? You should have checked coverage in your area before you signed on. Also, when you realized within the first 30 days of signing on that coverage in your area is poor, you could have canceled the contract.

I agree that you should probably leave at&t. Not all carriers will work as well as others in a given location. I am curious why you stayed past the initial 30 days.
Your other option, if you can not get a signal with another carrier, would be a microcell. It would work like a mini cell tower in your home, routing your calls over the internet. It is designed to allow cell phone use in marginal or worse reception areas.

Thanks for the advise. I signed up in Sept didn't experienced these problems until I moved which was in Oct. It dropped calls at my old place but the signal wasn't as horrible like it is now. Which really suck. O well, you live and you learn.

That's right. You shouldn't be paying for something that makes you feel unhappy/unfair about. I would go ahead and switch, too, if I were you. I also agree with sitnsidewayz, if the service was not good in the 30-day trial, I would not have continued on with it. There's nothing wrong with leaving, except you may have a hefty ETF to pay... ![]()

I would continue to pursue this. Ask to escalate it to a higher level of support, if you did in fact move to a poor coverage area from a good one. In some instances AT&T has allowed customers to leave while waving the ETF and in other instances they have given away free Microcells.

ATTs the best carrier. {Inappropriate comment edited} U must call back and speak to someone else. If that doesnt work, ask to speak to a supervisor.
ATT is giving away free microcells to people just like u. That should solve your reception problems. 30 days is more than enough time to figure out of the service is right for u. Try customer service with any other carrier and youll wish u were back with ATT.
But it certainly makes a difference whenit comes to who u geton the phone when u call 611. Always ask their name when u call. That could help sometimes.

Contracts are not always as concrete as you would think.
You have the expectation of a reasonable level of service. ATT has to uphold that end of the contract.
If you moved to an area of poor coverage simply contact ATT and explain the situation.
they will either have to upgrade the area or allow you out of your contract to go to a provider that has better coverage.
they cannot hold you hostage simply because you move.
that is your best bet.

Would suggest that you take a close look at the terms of service for the contract.

Yes, AT&T understand that you didn't plan on moving when you signed up for service but you can't fault them for a move that they had nothing to do with. If AT&T made you move that's another story.

I live in a good coverage area, can see the towers in Duluth mn! And I have in the last year had the worst service and overages are killing me! I haven't moved. Now I'm being charged for international roaming!! I don't leave the country!! Hubby checking contracts online now and can't keep a connection to the net!!
Hi Mesadabree, sorry that things are so messed up. Have you or your husband called customer service to get the international roaming issue cleared up? 800-331-0500. Call them from a landline so they can get your phone straightened out. Also, if the towers are visable to you, they may not me AT&T towers. If they are not AT&T towers, whoever owns them may not allow AT&T to use/rent space on them. At my work, Verizon owns the towers and will not allow AT&T access to them so my signal at work is the worst.
Take a look at this site to see who own those towers. If AT&T owns them, then call customer care and ask to be elevated to talk to a tech about reception. http://www.cellreception.com/
Here's another site that addresses tower maintaince.
Hope this helps.

AT&T like every cell phone carrier doesn't gurantee service in all locations especially inside a building. Calling customer service for an issue like this really doesn't do much. They'll of course be polite and their techs will look into it but people can't force a cell signal to penetrate the walls of your home if they're not already doing so. Your best option is just cancel service or invest in a microcell.

The contract customers sign with AT&T clearly has in the terms and conditiions that AT&T does not gurantee servcie in all locations. Furthermore AT&T held up its end of the contract when you purchased a subsidized phone. The customer obligation is to stay with AT&T service for 2 years of pay an ETF if they wish to leave sooner.
