So who gives out these ACE Awards? Things getting really weird. Animations and moral thumping. The issue here is did AT&T do a proper job or should we (you) be looking for another provider. I personally thought that although networks would be congested and some, or many calls would fail, I would still have some service in an emergency. I was wrong....at least with AT&T. Maybe bad luck for AT&T this time but Verison had service. Maybe not next time.
you ever stop to realize the tremendous amount of wind, rain and other of momma natures tremendous forces - the subways, rail tunnels, automotive tunnels where filled with watter and heavily damaged - that was a first for this decade, NO company no matter who they are can have planned for this. Data centers that had basement gensets to keep they centers runnning in case of power outages were flooded. Had had offices in various parts of the east coast for decades, they have survived many a storm but Sandy was the first time they where affected, they had no cell service, no VOIP service, no telecommunications service, no power, the backup genset was under 10 feet of water, they still are not back up and running
Sorry but your comment of "verizon" had service - they did not, my people that use both verizon AND sprint did not have cell service, nor home phone service / tv with FIOS
this reply is not in any way "Animations and moral thumping" it is just plain common life sense and business sense.

Was refering to cell service. Verizon 's other services are pitiful. Took over 3 months to get a line fixed at my office.

Incredible. Well, actually, not really when you consider the obvious.
"Cell phones are toys and I personally say a Luxury and nothing more." -- Where can a logical mind even begin to decipher the plethora of misinformation conveyed by this statement.
So it's a "Luxury" (with a capital L -- that's important... haha), moreover a toy, to have a cellphone, is it? Cellphones can be used for entertainment. This does not make them toys. The same can be said of vehicles -- they are (federally) considered luxury items & can very well be considered toys depending on who the owner of said vehicle is.
This obviously does not equate vehicles to toys. A vehicle in this day and age can be easily recognized as a fundamental part of life, nay, survival, for many people self included. Yes. Even at&t customers have lives. They are human beings too, not just sources of revenue.
Now, back in the context of phones, the argument is almost identical... Phone service plays a critical role in the lives of millions of us in SITUATIONS JUST LIKE THIS!!! Tell me, is being able to call your family and make sure they weren't killed by a natural disaster within the category of "toys"? Are we toys to AT&T? Yes -- we are. AT&T's attitude is absolutely despicable'
[Please keep it courteous]
I sincerely hope that anyone in a contract with AT&T gets out of said contract as soon as financially possible and considers the alternatives. AT&T's mudslinging and "we're not as bad as X" campaign, as clearly demonstrated in this thread, should not be a substitute for a service that could be the difference between life or death -- and obviously AT&T does not give two cents about your life!!!

I am curious why you think your satellite service failed.

"and some still do not as of this response, they are using company issued globalstar satellite phones"
Read your post as not having any cell or satellite service.
