Hi, so I was transferred the billing responsibility of a line from a family plan onto a regular individual plan, and Ive resized that I just cannot afford the monthly bills, due to school, I have not been able to work as many hours and Im not going to be able to do this. It hasn't been a month yet since I got transferred the billing responsibility, can I cancel the contract with me? (by the way, they had the contract for a year before me.

The contract that is still in place is from the original date not when it became your responsiblity. Look at getting a cheaper phone that allows you to redcue the number of services and data on your line. You are resposnbile for the balalnce of the contract going back to the renewal on the family plan.
