How can I block unknown numbers? I have been getting tons of calls from an unknown number, at all hours of the day or night. If I answer, there is no one there. This has reached the point where it is interfering with job and sleep. Please let me know what to do to block.

Unfortunately, that's not an option.
Sigh. I had wanted to keep my current number, but if I can't block anything, then I'll have to change it. No reason to stay with AT&T then. You'd think something as basic as blocking unknown numbers would have been set up at least a couple decades ago. So disappointing.

I know how you feel. Such calls are indeed frustrating. But you cane asily contact your telephone company aboit it. Be aware that call blocking option is controlled at the provider level. You just have to give them the number and they'll add it to your block list within their database. Easy and fast.

And I suggest you report the number to http://www.callercenter.com, too. I think they should be exposed for harassing ghost phone calls. They could be doing the same thing to several others. When you post, others will be warned ahead.

Thanks, all, for the suggestions.
ujmnz, alas, I don't have a smartphone. Thanks for the suggestion about immediate call forwarding, though. Good idea.
imstef, sorry, lack of clarity on my part. With a new number, I will be out of whatever database my number is trapped it that is leading to the unknown number calls. Though all phone companies are fairly universally loathed, AT&T does have worse ratings than the others. I have moved to a different state since getting my phone number (and I initally went with AT&T because no one else provided cell service where I lived when I got the cell/number), which means if I change to a different provider, I can't keep the number anyway. Thus, to make things easier for me, I was sticking with AT&T. But if I need to get another number anyway to be free of the harassment, there is no reason to stick with the company with the worse ratings. In addition, if I'm going through the hassle of a new number anyway, I may as well get a smartphone, and as we all know, AT&T ranks amongst the worse in data pricing, so there's not much motivation to stay. Hence my initial comment. Again, sorry for the lack of clarity.
william12345, those would work if it weren't an unknown number. Unfortunately, it is an unknown number. There is nothing to report or block, as nothing shows up but "Unknown".

>It's not just AT&T it's every carrier. Changing carriers to stop a problem that no carrier can fix wont fix anything.
Not true. You can do this with Verizon Wireless... see: http://www.ehow.com/how_5882329_block-unknown-call
AT&T needs to catch up.
