I recently upgraded to a Samsung Blackjack off the AT&T website and got the 450 Nationwide voice plan, the 200 text message plan ($4.99/month), and the Data Connect 5MB plan ($19.99/month). In browsing the AT&T website, it looks like there are other plans called Smartphone Max ($29.99/month with unlimited data usage and 1500 messages) and Smartphone Connect ($19.99/month for unlimited data usage). Either of these plans sound like a better deal than what I signed up for, but I don't remember these data plans being offered as features when I signed up for my plan and phone. Is there a difference between the Smartphone plans and the data connect plans? Does anyone know if these data plans are available for my device and/or voice plan? Would like to know in case II need to call AT&T ASAP to change my data plan before I activate my new phone. Thanks for any advice!
My Device: ATT Tilt2

Is there a difference between the Smartphone plans and the data connect plans?Yes, there's a difference. The Blackjack is a PDA -- therefore, a PDA data plan or Data Connect plan is required. By clicking the "compatible phone" arrow on the Data Plans page, you will see which plans you can use on your Blackjack. Notice that the Blackjack is NOT listed as compatible with the Smartphone plans.Does anyone know if these data plans are available for my device and/or voice plan? Just to add my 2 cents to lkc's post......
You might get advised by Cingy/at&t reps or other users that "sneaking" into one of those other plans that are cheaper is OK. DON'T listen to it. Just because they "technically" work doesn't mean it's OK! And just because it was a poorly informed rep that said it was OK, doesn't make it so. Cingy/at&t can legally come back and pop you for data charges if you are using the wrong plan, regardless of the fact that an at&t employee said it was OK.
Also don't tether a laptop with the incorrect plan, that costs more.

Because it has a querty pad a smartphone http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=1066 is deemed a pda by at&t and thus you get to pay an extra 10.00 a month for nothing . Its still a better deal than your plan .
