ok i am about to transfer from my mothers family plan to my own family. and paying a nice deposit while doing so. my question is when we do this can we get new devices at the disscount like a upgrade? i have a friend who said they have done this i myself saw the new phone. i have also read here on the forums a at&t employee state you can. but when i was in a at&t store they told no. here is what i read here on the forum.
1. No, no ETF will apply, you can transfer the account, doesn't matter if you're still in contract.
2. The Transfer of Service requires that you must renew your current contract 11 months. If you're about to finish your current contract then it will be extended 11 months starting from the day you transfer the line at your name.
3. After transfering the phone at your name your upgrade elegibility is not affected, meaning that you can ask for a phone upgrade, renew 2 years your contract and ask for a new device. If you do this, you will start the 2-year contract starting the day you upgrade your line and the 11 months of the Transfer of Service will not apply anymore (meaning that they won't accumulate with the 2 years of the upgrade).
4. No, again, only the 11 months of contract extension apply for the full process of the Transfer of Service. Changing your plan to an individual service doesn't affect your contract
if this is true can someone point me to where i can see it on the at&t site outside of the forum?or help me in this issue? thank you in advance..

You are trnasfering the current billing responsibility an contract term to a different person, any grandfathered plans like unlimited dtaa are removed, it does not however terminate the contract, if you had 11 months to upgrade before the transfer, you will have 11 montgs after the transfer, the only difference is the bill is in your name, Search att faqs

"...upgrade eligibility is not affected...", meaning that if you're not eligible for an upgrade you will stil not be eligible for an upgrade. What you were told at the store is absolutely correct.
