On September 26, I cancelled my AT&T accounts. Both accounts were shown as completed and I was told I would not face any ETFs because 1) my contracts were fulfilled and 2) I had poor reception in my new home. I paid for my lines IN FULL before moving to avoid any type of roll over service charges. I even believe I paid an extra bill that I did not need to, but that is not my concern. My concern is in the fact that I received a bill for $328! This is absolutely ludicrious. So, I took it to a CSR online. She assured me that the bills were erroneous, and that I would not be held liable for them, and even told me there was a $27 refund on my account. She assured me that I was not to pay any sort of ETF as my account was fulfilled and also my lack of coverage in my new area. I thought it was done there, and have been checking my online account. The charges are still there, and, yesterday, I received a call from a collection agency!!!! WHAT THE HECK!?!? This is absolute fear mongering.
Why is a debt collector calling me foer a bill that I was assured I was not responsible for??? I had a very similar experience with stuff like this when I used AT&T for my home internet and phone service. I feel like every time I use you guys, I get burned super bad.
I have been told repeatedly I am not responsible for these bills. I want the charges cleared from my account. I want the accounts closed (what's funny is I had to contact disputes because CSRs can no longer access my account because it doesn't exist...). I want the creditor to clear my name. I do not want to experience a credit problem due to your company's ineptitude.

The online account shows them as 2 monthly charges AFTER the account was ended. But what's weird is that my typical monthly bill was only around $75. CSRs on the phone state it is an ETF, which, again I was told would not happen

What were the monthly charges you were billed for? AT&T bills are VERY detailed and specific, almost to a fault at times. What dates were you billed for? Do the bills mention ETFs? Forget "what you were told" and just look at what is being shown you in black & white for the moment...

You choose to receive bills online or on paper.
You're right "detailed billing" is a additional feature which lists phone number detail, call lenght, etc. which is available at an additional charge.
All charges are listed in detail on every customer's bill, with dates of service and dates of additional charges, including dates for any prorated charges.

It is showing two additional months of billing post account cancellation and then an ETF of $145. But, I won't forget I was told to not worry about that. That's a huge chunk of change!

I see. That's only 1 month after you requested the disconnect (assuming 9/26 was the day you wanted the service turned off), but it's still an issue. Send a private message with all the details about the dates and your account to AT&T customer care and someone will get in touch with you. http://forums.att.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage/ta
