I'm in the same boat here, hoping someone can help me. I've had an account with Att since June of 2010, we open an account when the iphone 4 came out, I now have 5 lines on the account, this account is still active, bills are always paid on time. I went to att corp store today wanting to switch to the new share plan so I can add another line to this account, surprisingly the rep told me that I have another account and there was a balance that needed to be pay. So I called them on the phone asking what was going on, apparently there was another account open under my name in June of 2012, I have no idea about this account, there were 3 lines open on this account and whoever that did this basically took the phone and let the account go into default. I've been calling att for hours now, they transfer me to the fraud department and all of the people there are clueless. One of them tried to look up the location of the store where this account was opened but they couldn't find it, the rep who helped open the account is no long there (thats what the woman on the phone told me anyway), they couldn't tell me if it was a corp store or an authorize dealer. One woman even accused me of scaming at&t because of some of the recent upgrade we did on our current account. Again, my current account is in good standing, bills are paid every month on time, if this woman is accusing me of scaming at&t and if she feels strongly about it, then send me a letter of termination and I will be happy to terminate my service. No one is helping me on this issues and it's a big concerned to me as the now delinquence account has a standing balance of $1600 or some where close to that. I am not happy with how this is handle. Please if anyone from att here have any clue as to how I can handle this please let me know. I spoke to my attorney and she said to file a police report and we can go from there as far as taking it to court. Seems a little ridiculous that no one from att can handle this properly.

We definitely need to speak with you to get started on working this out. Both because it's complicated and because it's account specific.

Hi,
Unfortunately I am in the same situation as well
Hoping someone can help me. I've had a wireless account with AT&T since 2000. I now have 3 active lines on the account I am current on the bill payment.
I received a bill from AT&T on 2/1/2013 forwarded to my new address from the old place we lived at, which showed that there were 4 lines opened on a name that is different than my name, but using my social security number. These 4 lines have since been early terminated byt the fraudster & the bill sent to my old address which was forwarded to my new address by USPS is for the early termination fee for the 4 lines.
I've called AT&T customer service which put me through to their fraud department & I spoke to Jagruti Joshi who claims that this is not a fraud based on her definition & offered to transfer back to customer service for further details.
I have contacted my Sherriff's department on 2/2/2013 who have identified this as identity theft & a police report with my Sherriff's department is lodged on Saturday 2/2/2013.
Please help me with dealing with this issue. I can provide all the details regarding this fraud & my police report & I may be able to help you identify the criminal so that such future losses to AT&T and individuals like me can be prevented.
Appreciate someone contacting me.
Thanks for your help,
Daniel
