Windows Phone 7 NoDo Update is live now!

Focus owners please report here if you get the update. You don't have to wait for the notification. Connect your phone to Zune software and check the update from inside Zune.

Finally, the status for Focus is showing as 'Scheduling'. So the rumored 4/19 date might be true after all.

And there it is.. the laziness and incompetence of AT&T is validated by Rogers of Canada.

Microsoft has updated the update page. AT&T phones now have a foot note of testing done on early April. So, if everything goes according to the plan, we will see AT&T phones start to get NoDo at the end of the April, the same time frame of the rumored HD7S release date.

BINGO....  AT&T really bites...

I said it weeks ago, we would be the absolute last ones to get the update and sadly AT&T delivered.... NOT

I guess AT&T can't hear their users, reviewers and bloggers slaying them. daily..

I really don't think I can wait another 4 weeks...

ATT treats WP7 customers like a red headed stepchild. Really tics me off how they can do a IOS update in record time but can't do a stinkin WP7 uspdate with months of lead time. Maybe they are trying to kill off WP7 users.

To quote ARS,,

The bad news? AT&T is still "testing" the update. A footnote says that the company hopes this "testing" will be complete by "early April." It's worth pointing out that the first Windows Phone 7 update started rolling out more than six weeks ago, and still isn't available to AT&T users—and yet over that same timeframe, Apple has developed iOS 4.3.1, tested it internally, given the software to network operators for whatever testing they may need to do, and then rolled it out to every user of the iPhone 3GS, GSM iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, iPod touch 3rd generation, and iPod touch 4th generation. Including AT&T customers. We've asked AT&T if it is willing to shed any light on this—explain what the testing is, why it takes so long, and why the iPhone has none of these problems—but the company hasn't got back to us.

Microsoft is starting to acknowledge the disappointment—or outright anger—that the cack-handed update has caused. In an update to an earlier blog post, Eric Hautala (general manager for Windows Phone "Customer Experience Engineering") wrote:

I know many of you are disappointed, even angry. You certainly have a right to be. We've fallen far short of your expectations, and our own, and for that I'm truly sorry. We didn't set out to let you down. But it's clear we did. Whether you're someone who has followed our progress from the start, or are new to Windows Phone, you deserve the updates we've promised. My job is to get us on the right path and deliver them.

I was supposed to sign up with AT&T for the entire package (Uverse &Wireless) and this is why I decided not to go through with my U-verse installation.  Unfortunately, I got my WP7 through them.  The WP7 phone is amazing it's just that AT&T blows.  Data caps and postponing updates...Life without walls, except when it comes to AT&T.  I've already talked several people out of signing on with AT&T, I only wish someone had talked me out of going with them...

Exactly..  it's obvious they don't care about the customer once they got you suckered into a long term contract.

I think it's time to let the voices be heard for both Android and WP7.. you treat us like crap we drop you like a ton of bricks.

the door is on your left, vote with your wallet and leave for greener pastures. The same exact statement was made on almost every forum for all carriers about not gettingsoftware updates. Contrary to popular belief - it is not just ATT. Seen the same complaints on the verizon board, the sprint forums and on generic wireless forums that are genderless on the carriers

And customers like you are problem because instead of standing up and making the company accountable, all you do is roll over and let them do what they please

Good job GBK, did you see that Samsung Registry editor was still there under apps?  I noticed I could rebrand my focus back to ATT-US but didn't, figured I may need to change it to Rogers or some other carrier depending on who releases Mango first :smileyhappy:

Did notice that.. I kept mine there as well.  it is quite useful after all :smileyhappy:   It's been working fine unbranded and with the udpate even better what would be the point to rebrand at least for now?

accountable for exactly what? Where in the contract with any carrier does it state that all phones will recieve all updates all the time?

Have to have something in writting for any company to be held acountable for. I hold all the wireless carriers I do business with accountable for what is documented in the contracts and the SLA's that I have signed with them, just like I expect my customers to hold my company accountable for what is documented in our contract with them.  The sales rep that is assigned to my corporate account will definately vouch for the fact that I do not "roll over and let them do what they please" is it is documented in the binding contract, I carry the same over to my personal account

Bluetooth failing to pair with headsets and car units, marketplace crashes and other numerous issues.  Those are critical experience pieces that you expect to work when you pay money for a product and service.

Yes fixing these is on Microsoft which they have done.. While the fools (an appropriate word for today) at ATT are dragging their feet refusing to provide me an experience I was sold.  I expect them to follow thru and remediate in a timely fashion.  The bottom line is they've failed to live up to the level of service they sold us on during the Launch of the product where both Microsoft and ATT claimed to premier partners.  Well both of them apparently decided that talk was enough.

I'm sure this  all stems from total frustration with MS and ATT,  both share the blame BUT at the moment it's AT&T who is holding back the update the rest of the world is getting.. An update the may correct the issues people are experiencing.. Let's face it they are just holding it back to avoid any possible problems with either update, not for our concern rather their cost savings on tech support..  I emailed att's tech support asking where is the update and the answer given was "we are waiting for AT&T and the phone manufacturers to OK the update".. To that I responded "obviously the Manufacturers have ok'd it since the rest of the world is getting the updates", a reply was never received, not a surprise.. That's when I decided to go get it myself and I did,  with that I am already poised to get Mango when its released, lord knows AT&T will not be the first to release that when it becomes available, my guess is again they will be dead last!! AGAIN...

pair the focus with the MS Sync in my Shelby Cobra with no issues and my wife's Edge, have a plantronics that works also, been running a 32gb Kingston class 4 memory card in the phone since day one with 26GB in use.

Who has failed - if anyone it is microsoft for releasing a product that have these flaws in it, but then again I seem to remember the exact same growing pains on the original iphone.

What level of serivce did they sell you exactly? Do not recall anything in the carrier terms of service for any carrier that indicates the SLA that you are thinking is in place. Not sure where this "expierence" was that you bought is sold though.

Have no doubt the update will come eventually, just not as instaneous as some people want.

good for you!

Some of us are not as lucky.

Take a look here...

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp7-wpdevices/windows-phone-7-bluetooth-handsfree-...

The update is available that fixes some of those issues and the wait is completely unnecessary yet we're destined to sit and wait for inordinate amount of time.. while continuing to pay a monthly fee.. at the same time every other company with smaller resources has managed to do the something seeming impossible for the incompetent people at ATT.  I and every other customer deserves and demands BETTER.  You may be quite happy with the status quo.  I am NOT.  there is nothing you can say that will make this issue any less polarizing.  But there is a solution... it's quite simple too... RELEASE the update.

Interesting article windrider..  Also makes a good point that MS is really quite a different software giant without Bill Gates at the helm.. I think that's why there was so much speculation when Steve Jobs stepped aside a little while back, worried they would lose the edge he gives Apple just like MS did when Bill left..

Be careful. Most people are happy to help out on these Forums, but remember that their advice is theirs only and that you are responsible for deciding whether or not to follow it. Take caution before downloading software to or for your handset, as it could potentially damage your device or void your warranty.

Remember to always mark items that you find useful as "Accepted Solutions”, you can even mark multiple
posts
in a single thread.  This will help other users find this information too!!

Wow, thank you Caretaker for not locking the thread. In the past we have seen threads locked which are criticalor att or suggest an alternative work around an att software holdup. I think that your response above is helpful, accurate and shows regard for the position many customers feel themselves in.

I worked for AT&T for 9 years during the time before they ventured off into non-landline services and launched AT&T WorldNet, and partnered with Sony and Motorola to bring out the first PDA wireless network.  That was an AT&T to be proud of.  "Bleeding" edge, focused on customer satisfaction, an industry leader.  Those people who worked for that AT&T would cry to see how far this company has fallen.  Imagine, they are now LAST to update their customers WP7 phones, not FIRST (in fact, the first were unbranded phones, how sad is that?), and the only way their customers get an update is through the help of others.  Sad is not even the proper word to use here for this situation, there are none I can think of.  Love you AT&T, but you have really screwed this up.
