Don't know if anyone else has caught on to this..... after several instances lately of thinking I had forgotten to delete emails alerting me that someone had replied here after reading them, I just looked again and it hasn't been that. Messages are being deleted. There were 14 new post alerts in my email between 6pm & midnight. I checked the times and names of the people posting, 12 of them were deleted. I really hope it was done by those posting and not done by AT&T to downplay how many of us are upset and voicing it here. Sadly, I would not be surprised if that were the case.

Just manually update, its incredibly easy and takes no more than 15 minutes. Forget AT&T, its easier to support your phones yourselves.
The whole point to this is that we shouldn't have to. By AT&T taking this stance, we are being forced back into the Windows Mobile era. You would have thought Microsoft learned their lesson that you can't rely on Carriers and ODM's to release software updates. MS must take better control of this.

You may be wondering why people who are not on your network are even bothering. Well the simple reason is because the effects of what is being done is far-reaching. Ever since Microsoft announced their approach to updates, and their insistence that despite carriers having control over updates, there would be no 'fragmentation' of WP devices.
People were also wondering how far Microsoft would allow a carrier to push update blocking. It was rumored by some that carriers would only be allowed to block one update (http://bit.ly/GN03Yw) before being forced to allow the following update, along with the older update through. This comment was later recanted due to Microsoft insisting that the comments made were off the record.
So. Off the record, but the comments were made. A lot of people wondered how far a carrier could really push with blocking updates.
Congratulations. AT&T has just proven a WP device owner's worst fears. Good work on traversing such untrodden ground, and all this without a semblance of reasonable acknowledgement or explanation for such actions.
You're not just hurting yourselves, you're hurting the platform, the OEMs, carriers, and users that have championed the OS since it was released. Not bad for a premier partner eh? And all this over an update described as a minor bugfix .
Congratulations again, from halfway around the world. Your ability to shoot yourself in the foot is quite unparalleled.

Its dump how AT&T is not accepting the update. Its important!
Bugs fix, keyboard fix n other things that in proves the security and my phone has the keyboard problem n its annoying!! Always gets out. If AT&T doesn't release I will find away to get it because that shows that they don't care about their customers n unresponsive!

In reference to the Bottom Line article linked above, it's so, so sad to see this comment:
"AT&T recently received the lowest score given by JD Power for wireless customer care performance. It also was given the lowest rating for customer service by ACSI."
I firmly believe that AT&T has become so large that it should be a candidate for breakup....again....into small pieces that are more responsible to their customers and drive true competition.

I'm on a Focus and am very aware that if any issues arise that I can go the xxxx site and flash back to the original factory ROM....and then update through Zune to Mango, but it just annoys me that this update has been out since January 2012... And a bug as serious as the disappearing keyboard is significant!
Now I will have to wait for the Tango update and see how long it takes MS Premier Partner to roll it out.. 2-3 months from today,,,,AT&T totally unacceptable!!

Yes. Mango was officially released by both Microsoft and AT&T. This discussion topic is about the follow on updates that Microsoft has released, but Carriers have to request the update and approve it's deployment to end users. That policy is completely asinine, as any patch updates should be made available to consumers.

UNREAL !!! I was just replying to another post by someone confirming my suspicion that posts were being deleted and while I was typing, a message pops up saying the message I was replying to no longer exists !!! There was no profanity in their post, there was NOTHING in the post that should have made AT&T remove it, other than to lessen the total number of messages in this forum to minimalize how big of a deal this is to such a large number of their customers. I have, along with everyone else here, been shocked at how AT&T is treating it's customers as insignificant..... but that just blew me away.
I was writing to say I had just checked posted messages against my email alerts again. Lot's of posts are being deleted. I really am shocked AT&T has gone on such a power trip, and caused so much anger, over something that would be easier to fix than to not fix !! Really, what is the point?!?!? It's not going to force new device purchases....we no longer trust you. I have never in my 39 years witnessed a company treat it's customers with such disrespect. When I think of AT&T, I picture a big, dumb, over-privileged kid, squashing ants and laughing. Sad but true.

I'm sure I'm just echoing what many here have already said, but I'm very disappointed in AT&T's support of Windows Phone. The disappearing keyboard bug is fairly minor for me, infrequent enough that it's annoying rather than a real problem, but the fact that a fix exists and it's not being provided is deeply frustrating. Couple that with the fact that visual voicemail has been possible since the Mango update (see the fact that phones can be hacked to provide it and the Lumia 900 is launching with it) but hasn't been rolled out to anyone, and you get a picture of a company uninterested in properly supporting its products. It's a shame, because I love Windows Phone and AT&T unquestionably has the best slate of devices. I really want to upgrade to a Lumia 900 or a Titan II, but doing so means staying with AT&T. If I could get one of those devices on Credo Mobile, I'd be gone in a heartbeat.

I can confirm what Jamon723 is saying is true. I have been reading this forum for a while and had the page open and when I refreshed it about 3 comments disapppeared. One comment I remember was telling Jamon723 to go to the media and tell them about AT&T deleting comments to downplay the response to the update.
I suggest we contact our state senator or try to get AT&T broken up again or have an attorney general investigate AT&T. Verizon deserves to be a monopoly because they actually spend money on their network and making improvements and care about customers while AT&T does not. A few days ago AT&T was caught lying to the U.S. Government and scammed the government out of millions of tax payer dollars.
Those of you who say U-verse is a good product have never used Verizon FiOS.
Verizon Wireless switched to limited data because AT&T did. AT&T started limited data plans because they are too cheap to spend money on their network. If Verizon Wireless was GSM I would switch in an instant.

On the advice of another community member, I've submitted my complaint to the Better Business Bureau at bbb.org. Pretty straightforward process. I've pointed out the issues and added a few lines about apparent discrimination (for lack of better word) against those who choose other products than Apple. Four legs good, two legs bad.

Your customer service on this has been attrocious. When I've called, your representatives know nothing and now you tell us to bascially forget needed updates that Microsoft and HTC have released.
What are your plans for those of us that have made a commitment to you? Are you going to provide any future updates?

Comcast doesn't block me from installing Windows Updates on my laptop. Why should AT&T be able to block me from getting bug fixes and security updates on my Samsung Focus S?

Woot! I am out of the sin-bin (my own fault - not forum censorship) and back and able to contribute.
I'm sorry to see this saga playing out for all my fellow WP7 owners and enthusiasts in the US. Unfortunately both MS and Nokia are sub-serviant partners to ATT. All the power in the relationship rests with ATT, due to both Nokia and MS's low market share in the US and their need to have carriers selling new handsets to new customers.
Hence the dropping of the MS "Where's my update page" by MS and their silence on this matter to date. Also - there is no comparison to Apple (as much as we might want it here) - since they have a product which sells itself and are not beholden on Carrier's to approve OS updates before deploying them. It is a shame that ATT are either so profit-motivated or just plain inefficient and disorganised in not scheduling 8107 for existing US WP7 customers.
In Australia, our equivelant carrier to ATT (market power/share/position) = Telstra. Luckily, with their efforts to improve customer service (led from the CEO down) here, we have had a more receptive telco to lifiting and improving customer engagement on software updates across WP7 (and even Android).
Whether via Twitter (my handle @WP_DownUnder) or my site - these forums or direct liasion I have with the MS team at Redmond, I will continue to highlight this issue for US customers. A word of caution, any Bing search will show you ways to force the update on your device....however even if this works OK now, there can be longer term impacts for devices that have forced updates...beyond the current 8107 for eg. I forced NoDo in 2011 to my device when my carrier Telstra (like many) were so slow globally in deploying it to Gen1 prior-sold devices....and at the time this resulted in what was called a "Walshied" phone (named after ChevronWP7 Aussie team member Chris Walsh who developed the initial force technique). Whilst NoDo worked fine, MS later discovered that the phones updated this way became unupdatable for further updates - until a fix was created weeks later.
So beware - do not do this lightly!
Otherwise, I suggest Consumer Watchdog (you have them in the US?) complaints, Mainstream media complaints and all other legitimate legal ways to highlight this issue.
I certainly know I will NEVER import an ATT branded device to Australia again.

This is one reason why I will not reture to At&t. I was frusterated with T-Mobile with the 8107 update not being released, but they finally did it. You can see on my twitter handle I complained quite a bit @rdubmu
They did fix it but the only issue with t-mobile is that there is no Titan or Lumia 900. Heck the Focus s and orginal titan are being discountinued and they are still better phones than what is on T-Mobile...but not support released updates is not okay with me and will be the reason why I won't rejoin At&t unless they right this wrong.
I really wanted the Nokia Lumia 900, or the Titan 2...but for now it looks like I won't be going that route... maybe an iphone on Verizon or Spirint.

being a wp user on att i of course follow the entire update fiasco. cant's stand it anymore so i just registered to post this:
as soon as my job hunting finishes (in a month or so), i'm gonna end my contract, ETF or not, and move to a prepaid plan. screw you, at&t. it's unlocked from now on, wp or android or whatever.

AT&T, I'm waiting for my update on my Samsung Focus. Since my contract isn't up for another year and I'm not eligible for a phone upgrade until August, I'd like for you to release this fix. Otherwise, I'll have plenty of reason to leave you sooner rather than later. And if you don't provide the update, maybe that should be considered a breach of contract. I hear small claims courts aren't being very friendly to you recently either.

All unbranded phones have no issue getting updates that have already been approved by Microsoft and the device OEM. ATT should not be blocking updates to our phones that have both bug fixes (disappearing keyboard) as well as security fixes (location fixes as well as revoking bad certificates).

ATT doesn't want to become the dumb pipes that ISP's are. They know that they hold the power with being able to lock customers into 2 year contracts and not have to support them.
All phones/devices should be supported through at least the 2 year contract.
