Unlocking Nokia lumia 900

Hello. Since May this year I'm trying to unlock my phone Nokia Lumia 900 (bought with contract off). In at&t store where it was bought they said that there will not be any problem with unlocking but I cannot get any answer... nowhere..... INow I'm abroad and I cannot use this phone... I need help immediately...

I am pretty positive that 10/8/2012 they are going to allow unlocking. I have been bugging them and going on every forum imaginable. I'm pretty good at reading between the lines and nonsense. I called AT&T weeks ago and the woman said she would put my IEMI number into the computer. It told her it would release the unlock code on 10/08/12. I tend to believe this to be true as the brand new Lumia 920 is coming out beggining of November 2012 and the Lumia 900 won't be a big deal anymore. I called three times actually and got the same message. I tend to think this time it's for real. Call them this Monday, the 8th and ask for an unlock code. I do think, however, that if we are allowed to have it, they will send a request to Nokia and "get back to us" when it arrives. You may not actually get the code that day. Another option is to use a 3rd party unlock company. They charge, but tend to give you the info in 5 minutes. Once the codes are available for release from AT&T and Nokia, the 3rd party companies jump on them and give them out for profit.

I called them today and the guy put me on hold forever,when he finally got back ,he toook my imei number after a while he siad the phone is eligible for unlocking tommorrow the 8th, so i asked him ,if i call back tomm,will the phone be unlock? he then put me on hold again , when he came back he now said ..."am sorry ma'am the phone will not be unlocked ever" i am so angry ...right now i don't know what to do . so it's either they take it back or i will tear down their office by tomm.

I can happily deliver the news that they ARE giving the unlock codes out today, October 8th, 2012. I received via telephone. I live in France. I put in the French Orange SIM card and tried to get the input area for the unlock code, but it didn't work. I called back a second time and received a much more intelligent agent who got it to work. If you call them for the unlock code I strongly urge that you fix it WHILE on the phone with them. The input area asking for the unlock code doesn't automatically come up and ask for the number. The agent said some people's phones did do it automatically and others did not (like mine). She read off a series of input on the numberic keypad and it asked me for the code then. It now works on Orange France. I suggest calling them today!

Hello,this summer i bought my nokia phone from Amerika but it is locked.I read in the forums and everybody told me the unclock code will appear at 10/8. So can you help me with this code,because im from Bulgaria and its impossible to unlock my phone here?

Thanks for the heads up. I just got my unlock code, as well. It was the easiest unlock code that I have gotten from AT&T, even though I had to wait six months for it!

I did not keep the invoice of my Lumia 900 (bought with no contract).

so can I call AT&T ? can you guide me for detail because I am not in US.

The international customer service phone number is 1-916-843-4685. You can use Skype if that would be cheaper for you.

The process is pretty easy. I didn't have to provide any proof of purchase. I also didn't have to have my SIM card in the phone for the tech support rep to generate the unlock code. I only used another carrier's SIM card to prompt the unlock screen to show up.

I don't think that you need to do anything else but call and give the phone's IMEI number to the tech support rep. If you can get the unlock code, it will be given to you in that phone call. There's no need to wait for an email or anything like that. I hope that this helps.

My phone does not go to the unlock screen as I understand it should when I put in a different SIM.

What can I do to unlock the phone if i have this problem?

Did you reboot the phone after you put the new SIM card in?

You can also try entering ##782# into your dial pad and press call. This should bring you to the PIN unlock screen.

I wrote email to att support guys but they told me they need to verify my att account and actually I haven't /I'm international /.So they can't help me with the unlock code. What can I do now ?

Yes I rebooted the phone and it does not ask for the Unlock Code.

I also tried ##782# and hit the Call button. When I do that the phone goes blank for a few seconds then flashes back to main screen without asking for the Unlock Code.

Are you sure that the phone isn't already unlocked? Usually, that's what it does if the phone is unlocked already.

Was the other SIM card in there when you rebooted the Lumia 900?

Yes the sim card was in when I rebooted the phone.

No matter what I try, all I get is "No service - Emergency calls only".

When I enter the code ##782# it does not give the option to enter the Unlock Code.

How do you know if your phone is Hard Locked? I have been reading that this might be my problem. If it is hard locked; what are my options?

I bought the phone at full price at Best Buy way back in May and was told it was unlocked, when it could not have been. I was already out of the country so I could not just return it. I waited all this time and now I can't get the phone to work.

I would just like to get it to work as a phone; it is great for everything else. HELP!!

Your phone would be hard locked possibly if you tried to enter the PIN to unlock the phone 10 times already. It sounds like you haven't gotten to the unlock screen, so that shouldn't be the problem.

I just got it unlocked on call. nothing was asked else than "is it an iphone?"

Then she took the IMEI no, and i waited for like two minutes.

after she just gave me the unlock code for it... nothing asked if i am an ATT user or else.

(I was trying from a month, got two case numbers for unlocking request, was asked for an international fax but i couldn't send it, was also told that it will never be unlocked, etc etc)

I am from India. And she gave me the code much more easily than my father gives me extra pocket money!!!

ATT rocks.

I just called ATT, 800-331-0500. The operator said they're not providing unlock codes for Lumia 900. It's an exclusive device. They did forward me to the manager and she said the same thing. What phone number are you guys calling to get the unlock code?

I called the same number that you did and pressed the option for technical support.

Thank you for posting ##782#. I wanted to unlock but att has been clueless on how to do this without first having another carriers sim. I did not want to spend money on a sim now, but wanted to have the phone unlocked before I my next trip abroad.

Hey guys,

I could really (REALLY) use some help! I bought my Lumia 900 off-contract from the microsoft store back in April near the launch date. I tried calling in to unlock it on Oct 16 (well after the Oct 8 date) and was one the phone with a very nice customer service representative for about an hour and a half. He did ensure that my phone was eligible for unlock but could not by any means "find" the code. After the hour and a half he went on to 'open a case' for me. I'm just not sure, from reading other forums, if that will actually solve my problem. I'm living abroad right now and am in desperate need of using my phone! Let me know if there is anything that you can think of in terms of getting my Lumia unlocked! Thanks!!

When you called in, were you speaking to tech support or customer service? You want to speak to technical support in order to get the unlock code.

Was just on the phone with AT&T technical support this time. Apparently, my phone is "unlockable", but no code shows up in their database. According to the lady, some phones cannot be unlocked no matter what, and there is a possibility this is one of those. Needless, to say, I am not only desperate but incredibly dissapointed. I don't know what else to do. I bought the phone off contract, and even though I am abroad, I'm still paying my AT&T bill, so this whole situation seems almost ridiculous. Anybody have any ideas?

Is your ticket still open? I would think that AT&T could still submit a request for the unlock code.

You can also try the Microsoft store to see if they have any suggestions, but I think that they will just point you back to the carrier.

There are also third party options. Last I heard was that unlock codes for the Lumia 900 were expensive ($80-$100), but the price may have come down since AT&T started unlocking them.
