When I moved from my Samsung Focus to my Nokia 920, I was told I would have to reinstall my apps, but I wouldn't have to pay for them twice. The rep said that when I went to the app to download it, it would give me the option to reinstall. Alas, I have only been offered the option of buying them. So what's the truth? Can you migrate your apps? Or do you need to start over?
I welcome any suggestions or guidance on how to do this... it wasn't as though I had spent a ton on apps on my Focus, but it would be nice to not have to purchase twice.

You wont have to pay for apps twice. Select "buy" and a purchase confirmation screen will appear telling you that you already purchased it and asking you if you want to install it again. Select install and the app should install on your lumia 920.

Interesting. I tried that with one app and had to verify that the cost would go on my mobile bill, but at no point did it acknowledge that I was repurchasing it. I wonder if there's any conditions under which you have to repurchase?
Appreciate you trying to help!

Log into the store with a desktop browser:
http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store (sign in, on the right)
Now Click Apps + Games
Click Purchase History
From there, you can Reinstall any app to your phone Right From the Browser. Neat! Make sure your phone is on Wifi.
That's how I put a boatload of my apps on my new 920 that were on the Titan it replaced.

Thank you! I think I diagnosed the problem... my old phone is connected to my Hotmail account and the new one is connected to my Outlook.com account--I assumed because they were linked via email, they were linked altogether. So apparently I need to do a hard reset on my Lumia, set the primary account to my Hotmail account, and then my apps will be there. Not sure it is worth the trouble for $15 in apps... but at least I know I am not going crazy wondering why it isn't working for me!
