OK, I know dumb question, but how do you do them?
Would be helpful if you could let us know what make/model of phone you have.

To soft reset, remove the back cover of your Tilt2 and poke the stylus in the red spot on the left side. To hard reset, go to start>settings>system>wipe device>1234.

you might want to install this .cab (link): works on all WM phones, including Tilt 2

This way you will not have to take off cover for a soft reset.

To soft reset, you just hold the power button on the top of the phone down until it asks you if you want to power off. Then, after its powered off, you just hit the power button on to boot. That's a soft reset. This works 99% of the time, even if the phone is lagging, or starting to lock up. Only maybe twice since I've had my Tilt 2 (October) have I had to use the reset button inside the battery cover, because the phone was so locked up the power button did not respond.
