Lumia 920 Hangs, Reboots Randomly

Just received my Lumia 920 yesterday. Since then, the device has either hung/frozen or rebooted itself at least a dozen times. All this seems to happen when performing any type of screen access or UI activity. The device can stream music via the Nokia music service without hanging, so it doesn't seem to be a general HW issue. The hangs seem to be pretty random - everything is fine, and then nothing...

I have to admit, I'm pretty disappointed - my Blackberry 9810 SIM card is now deactivated and the Lumia SIM card won't fit in my Torch, so I'm left without a reliable phone! HELP!!!!!!

i would do a factory reset and if that did not clear things up, return it toma brick and mortar and exchange it.

Mine has yet to hang or randomely reboot.

Some other thoughts:

remove your SIM card and re seat it ensiring it is seated properly.

while at the B&M att wireless have them ensure that you have an LTE SIM card and not simply a 3G card.

oh and do all of this at a genuine att wireless store and not an authorized reseller. The locate att store link at the top of the page will tell you the difference.

Seems like you have a bad device. No hags at all on mine, and I've installed > 40 apps, linked 6 email addresses, etc.

I suggest you swap it or at least bring it to an AT&T store to have it checked out.

Thank you for your responses! I'm REALLY hoping this is just an issue with my phone, which, based on your experiences, it is. Just my luck! :^(

We've all gotten duds now and then - it happens. Even Apple turns out a dud now and then - I was really sad when my brand new iPhone 4 had a total meltdown 2 weeks after I got it.

I have had 1 reboot, and it froze 3 times in the week since I got mine. I am hoping a future update will fix a lot of this as overall this is the best phone I have ever had.

I don't have a 920 yet, but Like Paolo01 recommended , I’ve read a hard rest might resolve your problem. Located under settings > About. If you decide to do this I would first back up to skydive.. could also be a application that is running using a bunch of resources..

If the hardware is causing rebooting or freezing it will mostly happen because of heat or interrupted power. Poorly written applications will also cause resource problems and freezing.. was the phone rebooting right out of the box or was it after you added software? . I would do a backup, then hard reset, and try to make it freeze or reboot before adding anything to the phone. If it reboots or freezes clean of any third party software the phone needs to be exchanged.. if its software you need to be cautious of what application might cause future problems

Resets had no affect. I exchanged the original 920 with a new one and everything is good now! Absolutely stable and fully functional. Looks like there's some teething issues with the HW, or manufacturing process. I'm very happy how.

I just want to add since these phones hold every application in memory To add more assurance to phone stability you may wish to back out of program once in awhile. .

Microsoft should of set a limit on applications stored in memory , maybe they will in the future.

WP8 manages memory for you, and will terminate anything that's not running if it needs more memory.

My 920 just died after one week...blue screen is all I get, tried both soft and hard resets but nothing. Local stores say they are out until at least Monday. Great...hope this isn't a sign of things to come with this model of phone.
