Why does my Epix try to connect to ims.cingular.com sometimes. It always fails, and then falls back to MediaNet, but I can't seem to stop it from trying.
While on the topic, I have the tethering plan, so I have access to wap.cingular.com and isp.cingular.com. Is there any benifit to setting my internet to always connect through isp.cingular.com? Does it matter which one I use, is there any differance between the two? Aparently I have a 5GB limit, which combines MediaNet and ISP use, so I am wondering if it would be better for me just to default to ISP....
Any thoughts?

Try this:
Connect through wap.cingular and browse to Google. If you're using PIE, you should see the Google Mobile search page.
Connect through isp.cingular and browse to Google. If you're using PIE, you should see the full normal browser version of Google.
wap.cingular is designed for mobile browsing, while isp.cingular is designed for a computer browsing. Connecting through wap.cingular will help you use less data because the data you will be downloading is optimized for mobile sites (when it can be, of course).
I think, anyway. And I have absolutely no idea why your Epix would be trying to connect to ims.cingular unless you were trying to use Video Share or something.

Mine is doing the same thing. It usually only happens when I have restarted the phone or just turned it on. It will continue to do this and I can't do anything because it just continues to pop up as Weatherbug tries to connect.
Sometimes a similar thing will happen as it tries to connect to isp.cingular. Drives me crazy because it keeps vibrating and giving me errors that it cannot connect for an unknown reason. Then I'll get a notification at the bottom with a similar message.
One thing I've found that is that if I load up IE and browse to the homepage, it seems to solve the connection problem. Sometimes WeatherBug won't connect until I do this.
Any suggestions?

Did you upgrade your ROM on the Epix to the latest one or are you running it the way it was sold to you?

Wow, megga bump...
I only fixed this issue but replacing the Samsung Epix with the HTC Fuze. This fix worked for all the EPIX problems, and now I have no phone issues.

This is the best answer I have seen on the forum for a long time! hahaha... The fix for the Epix is the Fuze!
