Well, did you ever take action on this info from Wendy in the thread you started about getting your username back?

You need to reset the password on your original account. It is signed up with a different email, so you'll need to be able to access that email account to reset it.

I turned the display of the Twitter feed on the home page off just after the forum was moved.
I can no longer seem to find the control where I turned it off. Has it been moved, or am I just not seeing it?

Are you still seeing the Twitter feed? I know it was disabled for a while and I still don't see it. I can't remember if I turned it off in my profile too.

It was under My Settings > Social Connect (uncheck Twitter Feed). I remember that because I found it first thing, then someone asked how to get rid of it; and I posted the instructions.
Totally gone now, so maybe they finally figured out the bad language went against the word filter and could not be controlled?

OK, that's what I'm seeing too. I no longer see any "Social Connect" tab, nor do I see the feed.
Just wondering if that was intentional or a bug that needed to be reported.

Phew - you had me worried for a minute that it was still showing up for some people. It was intentional. ![]()

Have a question about the new forum search function.
Think it's really nice while you are typing it will show suggestions of threads where your info you are searching for may be located. But why in the world does it always take you to the first post in the thread?
The search function has to recognize your exact search wording and knows the post(s) where the wording is located. It wouldn't direct you to the particular threads if it didn't do this. So why doesn't it direct you straight to the post, in the thread you select, instead of the first post in the thread?
While maybe this new search function is supposed to be an improvement I've found it to be way too cumbersome to use in looking through 3-5+ page threads.
Maybe I'm missing something and wonder if others have this same problem?

I ran a few quick searches and it looks like its grabbing thread titles that have your search terms first, then it puts in results that have the term in the body. I got a few results that were replies (had Re: in the title) and those seem to take you to the post. It's probably better for advanced forums users to actually use the search instead of the suggestions, since there are more options and you generally know what to search for. ![]()

Uni, what I do now is still click Go and get a regular search result where you can sort by date and see a little blurb about the posts. That way you can see if it's what you are looking for and sends you to the post. ![]()

Thanks Wendy and Chris for the input. Guess I'm still struggling some on how the search feature exactly works even after reading the below help section.
http://forums.att.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category
Here's an example. When I first asked the question in this thread I wrote, "search function". In entering this is the search box it was set on "Board", clicked on Go, and didn't select an auto suggestion. It takes me to a view of 6 threads with the first being the first post by Wendy in this thread. The first section of the posts are seen but nowhere do I see "search function".
Now if I narrow it to the date (one week), like Chris said, I only see 2 threads. If I click on "Show results in replies (2)" in this thread I do find my post with "search function" written.
It would seem to find a post with the exact wording you are going to do a whole lot of searching yourself. I have a real good memory on what was written, or what I saw, but sure wouldn't be able to find a close date if it was more than a couple months ago.
BTW, I did an "Advanced Search" with the exact phrase, "search function" and had 233 threads appear. It must have somehow switched over to the "Community", from the "Board", even though I never changed it. Found the Advanced Search is within a normal search after you've done a regular search. Wondered where it was.
The below info is from the help/search section and it seems to indicate you can search for info in posts. But I sure don't see "posts" listed in the drop down list to the left of the search button. Maybe there isn't any "post" listing but not sure what the "current level" means then.
"To search for posts:
- Choose the scope of the search in the drop down list to the left of the Search button.
You can search at the current level and above in the community. - Start typing the search term.
Auto-suggest shows the topics that match the term you're typing.
Tip: You can enter the full search term, or use an asterisk as a wildcard in your search. - If you don't see the term you're looking for in the auto-suggest list, click Search to see the full search results."
Oh well, at least I can read the font now since the text size settings work. Thanks, Wendy.

Also Uni, if you're looking for a certain user's posts, enter the user name in the box on the left. Then only that user's posts show up in show replies. ![]()

Still believe this search feature is way too all encompassing to use Chris.
I entered the highlight text from your above post ("certain user's posts") in the search box. As I entered it in a search of the Board it offered suggestions. One was this thread and of course it took me to the first post in this long thread when I clicked on it.
So I didn't use the auto search and just hit go. It showed 7 posts but none of them showed your post with "certain user's posts" included. Strange it wouldn't pick up this exact wording.
So then I entered "mibrnsurg" as the author and the only option available was to click on "Advanced Search". It showed 90 posts from all 3 forums and I'm not going to look through all of them for your post. Again it showing the "Community", rather than the "Board", from the 1st search and I didn't change anything.
Maybe you can explain how to enter the author, along with a search topic, without using the advanced search?
Thanks Chris but I'm about ready to just "hang up" using the search feature at all.

Sorry about consecutive posts but a different topic.
I've noticed when copying/pasting text from an outside source, or even within the forum, if the text is bold or Italic you cannot turn this off when writing after it. Even if you highlight your text, and click on "B" or "I", it cannot be turned off. Believe this is also true of underlined text.
Found a work-around last night and if you place a line (to the right of Undo arrow) from the reply tool bar under the pasted text it will break/stop the bold or Italic feature in continued text.
BTW, believe the line option across the entire page was gone for a while and nice to have it back. ![]()

The reason cut/pasted text won't allow you to use the WYSIWYG editor to remove formatting is because it isn't recognizing the tags in the html. I usually just click the html tags and make sure to clear out CSS remnants and any other tags I don't want.

I don't see this complaint anywhere. I am currently logged in to U-Verse (as opposed to Wireless or Internet). At the top of the screen is "Log in" which if you click on it takes you to U-Verse services, etc. and out of this board. I find that entirely misleading.

You are right. I hadn't paid too much attention. It seems that I am more likely to notice the "Sign Out" near the left just a tad lower. I guess I discriminate against the right top corner.

While it's unclear the top 2 bars are links to the outside and I just ignore them. "Log In" is asking if you want to log into your AT&T account(s) rather than the forum(s). Same goes with "Register" right next to it. It's asking if you want to register to set up your online account.
In the 2nd bar "Wireless, Internet and AT&T U-verse" takes you directly into those accounts rather than the forums which have tabs under the bars at the top. I'm sure you've already figured that out.
In using "Profile>Auto-login Options" I'm always logged into the forums and if I can see my user name under the two top bars I don't worry about it.
Can see the confusion though since before we merged "Log In" and "Register" were at the top and had to do with accessing "U-talk". Don't remember those same links at the top that are there now.
On another issue.
Twice today I've had a pinkish bar show up above the top of a reply page which says,
"Sorry, unable to complete the action you requested."
Wonder what this is all about because I'm not even requesting any "action"? It came up when I just typed 3 words in a reply and I didn't hit any other keys. Strange..
Found if I went from "Rich Text" to "Preview" and back again it disappeared.

Uni, actually just now I entered 1080i as the Search item and hit Go. On the next page I entered SomeJoe7777 in the Author box, clicked on his suggestion that came up, and the page refreshed. Every reply now leads only to SJ's posts on the subject. Seems to work for me. ![]()
