I am trying to figure out if the HGV3801 already installed in my home will allow me to avoid the $6 internet equipment fee.
I am a current U-Verse Internet customer and have the 3801 installed in my home now. I am interested in bundling my existing internet service with U-Verse TV service and notice on the bundle builder website the $6 equipment fee.
For whatever reason I don't have to pay this fee now and in reading the explaination I was hoping that already having this equipment would allow me to avoid paying it if I go ahead with the bundle.
The explaination on the website says "equipment fee applies to High Speed Internet customers who are leasing the U-verse Residential Gateway (2Wire 3800HGV)." I am assuming that I am not leasing the 3801 that I already have since I am not paying a fee for it.
Thanks for any help.

"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

greg, that's the thing. I'm not paying for it. I have it and I am not paying for it so why would I have to start paying for something that is not going to be new is going to remain the same but start paying for it?

I've had Uverse since 09 and do not pay the $6 fee on my 3800 either because at the time AT&T was not charging the rental fee for the RG, so I am, as the saying goes, grandfathered in. This might apply to you also, but since you want to redo your plan by bundling services you will lose the grandfathered status and have to pay the rental fee.
