U-verse wireless connection reset/stalls

I recently has U-verse internet setup at my home. Ever since then, I am unable to download a large file via wireless on my Dell D620 running Windows XP. I am able to download the same file if I am connected via ethernet cable or on a different laptop wirelessly with Windows 7. The strange thing is that I had a much slower DSL connection before and I was able to download anything wirelessly on my D620 without any issues. My laptop has Dell 1390 w-lan card and I have tried re-installing its drivers.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Please ahre share solutions/suggestions.

Try downloading inSSIDer and check to see which channel you might have less congestion on. Change your channel to the less congested and see if that helps.

Bad wifi card or driver is my guess in the dell.

Ok, I called UVerse and they suggsted me to allow my laptop to be unblocked by the firewall bu changing the settings in "DMZ in Pinholes". I did that and never got any disconnects. HOWEVER, now the IP to my laptop is different from my GoFlex drive and the two does not stay connected.

Any advice on what to do?
