I just had a sales person at my house on 7-23 and signed up for the choice plus triple. I saved about $40. a month over TWC's comparable service. The install is scheduled for 8-9. Thank goodness I found this forum; after seeing the complaints, install problems, and reports of marginal , ok horrible customer service I might rethink my decision and cancel. I don't even know if I want to try the 30 day trial. Even though my current service costs more, I haven't had any problems with it.

Don't just focus on a handful of negative posts. Those posts do not represent the experience of the majority of the 3.4 million U-verse TV customers. Those who have complaints or negative experiences are more likely to post than those who have no complaints or negative experiences.
I have had U-verse for over 2 years, and I have had no major issues. Neither AT&T or U-verse are perfect, but I am happy with the service in comparison to my previous TV providers (Dish Network, DirecTV and cable).

IF you come back to this forum to look for replys, take Texasguy's advice. UVerse has 3.4 million customers and believe it or not the highest rated service. Do not let the negative minority (less than 1% of the customers) that post on here dissuade you. I have had zero issues with customer service or tech support since I signed up for UVerse in Oct. of 2009. Prior to UVerse I had Dish, then DirectTV and TWC. They all have their share of poor customer support and technical support.

Interesting read here comparing customer satisfaction of various media here:
Verizon’s fiber-optic service, FiOS, holds the top ACSI spot for a second straight year even though its ACSI score drops slightly by 1% to 72. DIRECTV is next at 69 (+1%), recapturing the satellite lead from DISH Network, which falls 6% to 67. AT&T’s U-verse, Verizon’s fiber-optic competitor, drops 6% to 68.
Cox Communications remains the highest-scoring cable provider (unchanged at 67), well above the other three cable companies. Comcast (-3%), Time Warner (-3%), and Charter Communications (-2%) are all tied at the bottom of the industry with ACSI scores of 59.
I've had Uverse for almost 4 years coming from TWC. It would take something HORRENDOUS for me to ever consider going back to cable.

The complaints in this forum fall well below 1% of UVs total subscribers. If you go to any other service providers user forums and you will see an equal amount if not more negative posts. The service is great, and if you decide to go with it you can come here and get information in the form of suggestions, instructions etc.. You can also have UV installed and keep your current service and then you can do a side by side comparison. The choice is yours.

so basically all the positive posts here are "roll the dice, and hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones who don't get dumped on by ATT"
you decide

AT&T U-Verse has 3.4M customers/subscribers. Only a couple thousand accounts are registered here at this forum.
The bottom line is that the people who don't have problems are not the ones that post here. People only post here when there is an issue, so of course the forum is full of negative posts. But you don't hear about the vast majority of the people who don't have any problems and are happy with the service.
This is just like the local or national news. All the stories are negative because that's what makes news. Normal life where things work out fine never makes the news, yet that's what is actually happening in 99.9% of situations every day.
Now, I'm not saying AT&T is perfect by any means. Just like every other customer service company, there are bad phone techs, bad install techs, and plenty of computer problems and billing problems to go around. I'm just saying look at the numbers and make an objective evaluation of what those numbers mean.

I'm wondering, if it is true that only people with complaints post in these forums, then who are the people telling us that? Who are the people in various topics defending the company, including by writing not to pay much attention to the complaints and to not judge a company on the complaints because the millions of happy consumers do not post in such forums. If they are merely happy customers, and only unhappy customers post, why are they posting in the forum?

Comcast forums for their "customer service"
I tried searching for an "official" forum for Direct TV, but they don't have customer service as an option, must be scared
Dish Network does not have official forums, TWC does not have official forums. AT&T has pretty much been the only company that has an official forum that includes a customer service topic.

DirecTV's official customer support forum is here:
http://forums.directv.com/
It is peer-to-peer, just like this one, however they have a few DirecTV employees that sometimes post announcements and moderate the forum.

Seems that Directv considers their forums purely technical and it's been my observation that any ranting or negative posts are promptly deleted by their mods.

I always look at Reviews for any product (when they're available) with the understanding that people are either extremely happy or extremely angry about their purchase. And, make sure there is a return policy with no penalties.
I was trapped with TimeWarner/Comcast for almost 25 years and service outages were constant--their fix?--bring your STB in for a replacement! Glad to be away from them with UV service for over 4 years now. Everything has always been resolved in a timely manner when there is an issue here.

Good suggestion..I didn't know you could have both services at the same time. Excellent solution for a side by side comparison and if any bugs come up in the 30 day trial period it will be an opportunity to see how responsive ATT customer service is.

whatever... i called at&t to complain about my internet constantly going out and their solution was "go buy a new modem".
which is somewhat understandable... too bad you have to buy a dsl modem that is SPECIFICALLY tailored to AT&T, which will cost you at the least $100. I saw modems that were $30-$50 but i couldnt get them because they didnt have that special "at&t" sticker on it. so instead, i am sitting at home mooching off of a public wireless... which actually, is a lot more stable than my at&t internet.

Are you talking about regular DSL, not Uverse HSI?

perhaps, i dont know? does it matter? my argument here is that at&t customer service is terrible.
unless uverse customers get treated better than internet/dsl customers. then ya know... thats probably even worse and unethcial of them. i dont know what youre implying by nit-picking my sentences... but i really hope that isnt it.

Yes, it does. If you have regular AT&T DSL, you are complaining on the wrong forum.

At the top of this page, you will see a link for "Internet & DSL Forums". If you do not have AT&T U-verse internet, that would be the appropriate place to post.

It was asked and I am paraphrasing, if getting good service was for a select lucky few of us who post here in the forum. When people don't have any complaints about a service they rarely seek out a peer to peer forum to post about it. You will see more posts like the ones you see here. People seeking help and or talking about bad service and customer service. I think for the most part they are looking for help even though many times the posters are angry. I along with several other regulars try to offer help in the form of information, suggestions, and instructions on how to get issue resolved.
Speaking for myself, I have had many issues with my Uverse services but they have all gotten resolved very quickly by csrs, prem techs, and I&R techs. Others have posted about bad csrs whether they were rude or just lacked knowledge. I love Uverse services and hope I never have to go to one of the other tv service suppliers. I along with others will continue to offer help here in the forum. I am paying forward the treatment I got when I first got Uverse and came here to learn about the service.
