Hi,
Does anyone know who to contact at AT&T regarding a fraudulent collection action on a credit report? My current report is showing collection from an agency for an AT&T account that I do not have. When I inquired with the collection agency, their investigation showed that the account was for an address in a state I have never lived in. I was told the only way to clear the discrepancy was to discuss with the "fraud department" at AT&T. I've been trying to find a number for that for well over 30 minutes.
I have submitted a dispute with the credit reporting agency, but would like AT&T to remove as well.

I'd like to report to AT&T customer service for a phone fraud case. I was an AT&T Uverse customer when I rent an appartment in Pasadena, CA. Then I moved back to the bay area. I cancelled my service with AT&T and paid all the bill including the final bill to AT&T. I log in online and my account was $0.00. All my bill payment is set up as automatic payment.
I received continous calls from a collection agency regarding I did not pay my final bill with AT&T when I closed the account. They said that they represent AT&T to collect the final bill. They told me that the final bill AT&T always collect through their agency. They did not disclose to me the name of agency. It makes me suspicous. They told me that I own AT&T $176.04 and they want to collect it. I asked them my AT&T account # then they did not have it. Therefore, I hung up on them.
My phone is countinously being ring every two days regarding collection. I know that they are fraud. I hope AT&T will do something about it to protect AT&T customer. I believe that these peoples have some information of AT&T customers.
If anyone who has the same problem then I would like to know more about it and how to stop them.
Also, how do I report officially to AT&T so they can take actions against these peoples.
Thanks in advance,

Since this is account specific I would recommend that you send a private message to the escalation team at ATT Customer Care and someone will get in touch with you. Their normal business hours are from 7am to 10pm Central Time. Please take into account weekends when contacting them.
To check for their reply, click the little blue envelope. ![]()
If after two business days you have not gotten a response, Send a PM to Alex. He or someone from his team will get in touch with you. Again keep in mind weekends.

I would follow OUfans advice in terms of contacting AT&T Customer Care, or Alex, Is it possible that the charges are for equipment that wasn't returned? Either Customer Care or Alex's team should be able to tell you.

What's the current procedure? Trying to PM Alex now I get:
The user ATTAlexCM does not have Private Messages enabled.
Like the topic-starter in 2011, I got a collection notice out of the blue, claiming, I owe AT&T Mobility nearly $3K. I never had an AT&T mobile device in my life...

Customer care is not the same as customer service. They are a dedicated escalation team that gets issues resolved when other means have failed.

oufanindallas hit it on the head with the current procedure. You responded to a 2 month old message and Alex has moved n to another role.
If you need any further assistance, I would recommend starting a new message, as opposed to latching on to an older one. Good luck.
