Cancelled U verse account still receiving bills

I received U-verse equipment at my apartment when I moved in but since my apartment was pre-wired for Comcast I called AT&T U-Verse and cancelled the account and returned the unopened equipment immediately through USPS as directed by the Uverse representative on phone. I was reassured that once received , the account would stand cancelled and I wouldn't get billed. I followed up later and the rep transferred me to someone in the shipment dept who checked and said yes the equipment had been received (01/03)and that she would put in a note stating account to be cancelled , she also gave me a numer to call back - which I did the very next day, again got confirmed that yes the account stands acancelled and that I would get a call back confirming account status . I received a call stating my account was cancelled a day later. YET I received a bill for 01/03/13- 01/28/13 for $109!!! I'm at aloss as to what it takes for one account to be cancelled !!!!!!!!!! I've called numerous times...have tracked the equipment as well ...and yes it was delivered on 01/03 ...I wouldn't want to pay for something I haven't used and don't want to go into collection issues...calls get me nowhere...so if a communty manager could help it would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

Please send a PM to AT&T Customer Care who can help get your issue resolved.
Also, check the settings on your account to make sure that you will receive email notification when a PM is received on this forum.

HI! I did send one yesterday, also chatted online with an agent who checked and confirmed that the equipment was received, hence I shouldn't be billed and created a case for me , also gave me a number to call and follow up today . So will do that...hopefully get this resolved..though I'm wary of calling again and being told that yes don't pay and then it going on to collections later!
