I live in San Jose, near Cupertino also so I checked my TVs. From the Menu button, I can now see 'recorded TV' and it lets
me select and play from there. You cannot delete or set up new recordings, just play and pause. If I try to pause live TV,
it says 'you cannot pause live TV from this receiver' - too bad - I was really hoping for that.
Two of the three receivers work fine. The third (of course in the master bedroom) seems to be playing in super slow
motion and stops constantly when playing the recorded TV. I'm assuming its because of the cable (only because they put new
cables in our other rooms, but left our existing one in that bedroom).

I can report that THDVR is also now up and working in Los Altos Hills, CA. LAH is just north of Cupertino, near Palo Alto in the "silicon valley" portion of the San Francisco Bay Area.
I have three remote receivers plus the main unit. I tested it last night on all three units and it worked fine. You can pause the play-back on one unit, then go and pick up watching where you stopped on another unit. I was doing all of this will recording a program and one of the other remote units was watching a live show.
Only dissapointment is that you can not pause live TV. However, you can just start recording the "live" program you are watching, then view the recording (while it is recording) and then pause all you want.
I noticed one very brief "freeze" when I was watching a live HD program on the main unit while my son was watching a recording on a remote unit. Other than that it worked perfectly.
I will spend much more time with it over this weekend.
FYI - I also have a dual receiver HD DishNetwork system. I still like the RF remotes for the Dish system far more than the crappy RF remotes with UVERSE. However, now that Uverse has activated the whole house DVR the UVERSE system moves ahead of the DISH system for us.

Something else I just noticed today - I have paused Live TV (on my main DVR of course!) and leave the room
for a while. When I fast forward through the commercials and hit play again, it rewinds about 4 seconds. It
was obvious enough today that I am pretty sure it didn't do that before the software upgrade. I like it because
you can now see the show start and hit play instead of guessing where the commercial will end or having to
rewind a little bit.

The dvr has always had that feature. It buffers the signal on the harddrive and then displays it on the tv. You are pausing live tv on you dvr stb and not on the non-dvr stbs. Easy mistake though.

HA! You're right. I guess I don't watch enough TV. I told my 15 yr old that it was rewinding (buffering) 4 seconds now
when I fast forward through commercials and he said 'it always does that'!

Kids!!!
Sounds like the feature just appeared? Nobody had to do any rebooting or call-ins?

New member here, I just had U-Verse installed 2 days ago.
Had the upgrade done tonight and now we can also watch off of the DVR.
I'm located in Vallejo Ca. about 30min north of San Francisco.

I just spoke with a local Indianapolis rep that I saw at the store. He said whole house DVR is expected in Indy in the next two months.
Sweet!

A lot of people were posting that the end of the rollout would be 2nd quarter 2009, but according to the announcement today AT&T is expecting the rollout to be complete at the end of this year. The rollout of the thdvr is going to enable Uverse to leap far ahead of the competition. There are those who have left because of the lack of features, hd streams, or whatever. But now is the time to be a subscriber to Uverse because we are all grandfathered in. Now that thdvr has rolled out there could be a price increase for subscribers have the rollout is completed. But hats off to AT&T Uverse, our patience is continually being rewarded.
Yep....this is great news and we look forward to having it. I notice there seems to be a few little "extras" thrown in there also which will be welcome. Good show, AT&T.

Since I started this thread, right after we first got service....
I am FINALLY completely satisfied with ATT Uverse Service. Up until today's THDVR upgrade I was about 80% satisfied. We'd gone from spending around $500 a month on internet and Cable to the Uverse price. I had been happy paying the premium on the internet service as we were August net customers, and they had awesome support, but they sold out and the company that replaced them was horrible. Uverse Internet is vastly more reliable than they were.
However, I'd had 2 DVRs with Comcast/Time Warner, and I really missed the second DVR. I was patient though -- took over a year, but we're still at a great price point, with reliable service AND have DVR in every room. I've got my house back since I can now watch TV where I want it.

Good news in the Dallas / Fort Worth area (Bedford). I discovered last night that my Uverse WHDVR is now working. I did not have to reboot each receiver and the software version is apparently unchanged. (Still 1.x.x something; I was told WHDVR would be 3.x.) As others mentioned, you can watch but not erase or schedule programs on the non-DVR sets. Neat feature - you can watch part of a program on one TV and finish it on another with the "Resume Play" command.
So try it - maybe you've got it too!
