Abt 1:30am, got a message an update would occur, or could choose 3 hours later which I did. Don't know what it is, maybe fixing things they screwed up when phase 3 downloaded. ![]()

It could be a fix. I believe they were working on a fix to the remote not responding requiring the EXIT TO TV button to be pressed. What is your TV2 client version?

My system was in use at around that time, and I didn't see anything pop-up, here in Metro Detroit as well.
TV2 version shows: 2.0.26496.12
Here's a question: Does the Motorola VIP-series have the same expanded menu that you can access with their "traditional" cable STBs? Where you can power-off the DVR and hit "Select" and your OOB, signal levels, current channel information, DVR stats are located? I haven't fooled-around with this too much, or found anything online indicating you can get under the hood on the VIP-series like with the DCH, DCX, DCT Motorolas.

I received the update at 1am this morning in Columbus. The TV2 client version is 2.0.26496.15 with a UI of 5.3.6.
If there are changes to the user interface, they are not obvious. I have not had to press "Exit to TV" at all today.

This probably just a bug fix so you wouldn't notice any changes in the UI.

That is a slightly higher version than the original phase 3 rollout.
The original phase 3 rollout is:
Client version: 2.0.26496.12
UI: 5.3.2

I woke up this morning and noticed that my Recording space had dropped from somewhere around 18% to 8%. I rebooted my box to see if that would restore the space and it did not. So I deleted a few recording to see what would happen and the space was freed up as if the 8% was correct, i.e it now shows 13% after deleting 3 or 4 hours of HD programming. I also noticed that none of my recordings have the exclamation mark anymore indicating that they will be deleted soon. I checked my TV2 client version and UI and they are: 2.0.26496.15 and 5.3.6
So I guess that means I have the new update. I don't know when it was downloaded but I suspect last night and that this might be responsible for the recording space discrepencies. Has anyone else noticed anything like this? Maybe now, recordingswon't be deleted until you actually get down near 0% instead of 10% like before. I wish that AT&T would release exactly what features and bug fixes each new update contains so we wouldn't have to guess about these things.

Ok, cool. Looks like the update is not hitting just the Detroit market.

I was watching a recorded program on a non dvr stb and the screen popped up when you finish watching a recording. I was unable to rewind the program so I exited out and tried to go back to the recorded programs menu. I got a full screen message stating that there were no recorded programs on the dvr or the dvr was not connected. I did a soft reboot of the stb and once it finished booting I was able to see the recordings on the dvr. And I was also able to finish viewing the program I was watching to it's conclusion. I don't know if this was a result of the update or not. Clearly there are some side effects.

RC, I've had the same thing happen a time or two, but long before Phase 3--it may not have anything to do with the update. In rebooting my DVR just now, I don't have the update but I finally got the Egress Profile raised to 0SD/3HD. Too bad I live alone and only watch one TV at a time!

Had it happen last night here in Detroit area, just like RC above. Somewhere around 2:30-ish, watching recorded program on STB in bedroom, 10 minutes into a 30 min program, and up comes the end-of-program DVR screen. Click "Recordings", it goes back to Recordings screen, "no programs can be found." Quick switch to Menu, System diagnostics, the STB already has the new xxx.15 update listed. Uh oh ... put on my bunny slippers, go to THDVR TV, power button's flashing, RG's HomePNA flashing like normal. "Rethink possible" and swirl going on screen. Then "update in progress" screen comes up, downloads, THDVR does a hard reset on its own, yet it takes forever to finally come up -- all the time I'm expecting it to NOT come back up, because of the delay.
Curiously, the whole time I'm watching the progress at the THDVR's TV, I can hear the bedroom STB's going on its merry way with the live TV, as if nothing's happening. And the fact that the non-DVR STB basically had almost an 'instant', non-invasive update. Brings up a few questions as to how the STB interfaces with the THDVR.
So in my experience, I never got a "warning" screen, and maybe that's because the THDVR was 'off' and I was using a STB instead. I didn't have anything come up today when turning on the THDVR either.
It also left me questioning about how the platform differs from Comcast's. When I had similar updates overnight with them, even if their STBs had to do a "deep hard reset", it took only about a minute to bring live TV back up. Yet it did take a whole lot longer to rebuild all of the EPG and the full Menu functions.
Because of the STB's "silent" update, I'm thinking this new update had something to do with the THDVRs, but I have yet to see anything remotely noticeable different.

I haven't seen any other side effects from the update since my last post. Hopefully I am all done with irregularities.
