Is there a way to get one? Some times I have conflicting recordings from other household members and I like to record a few shows at once which makes this annoying especially since sometimes I can't watch show when 3 are going at once. It's should be 4 before it does that. Comcast had personal DVR boxes and I liked that. I also don't like having to share my recordings.

No, Uverse only allows 1 DVR per account.

Without more streams coming into the house another DVR would not add any value.
Being able to partition the recordings by user should be possible with software, but I can see that it could become complicated real fast & not be needed by the vast majority.
Some improvements in managing the pool would be nice - like a viewed indicator - maybe even an originator indicator - that could be used to determine if it is OK to erase. In any case personal communication and cooperation is required.
The DVR is not really robust in long term storage. It is intended for time shifting shows. If you want to build a personal archive play the shows into your computer for your personal viewing & private management. Don't forget a back-up drive.

The only solution I have come up with, and that is when this is possible is to record a later airing of a program. But that depends on if the network reairs that program at a later time or day. For example The Discovery Channel reairs certain prime time programs later in the evening.

Otherwise, nothing is going to the house while the boxes & tvs are not watching anything.
"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

The context of my comment was- What is the most channels available for recording - If the OP expects to increase recording with more DVRs, he is going to be disappointed - blocked by few available channels.
It was a focused eye opener - not an explanation of U-verse architecture.
But, I understand - you were in a different place - Sometimes I think we do not explain enough. In this case I thought the basic arithmetic was the important point.

Well, does ATT plan on coming out with the Hopper like the Dish offers? 2-4 recording is not enough, and I say 2-4 because sometime after only 3 recordings it will not let me watch tv. I am thinking of switching televison service because of this.
It's like Dish's new commercialsshow, when you have a big household you are consistanly running into this problem. There are many progams I want to record that do not have replays.
