Twice today I had two movies ruined when I had paused live TV and then later accidentally hit a number on the key pad and the channel changed. When I had Verizon Fios, as long as you didn't change the channel more than once, all you had to do was hit Last. The DVR would still be recording your show and you could just rewind to where you left off. Is this feature coming to Uverse? Has anyone else had this problem?

I would doubt it. The DVR is buffering the show you are watching live so you can use trick play. When you switch channels it starts buffering that new channel.
Yes, when I leave the remote sitting on the couch and my dog steps on it causing an unwanted channel change.

Uverse boxes do not have tuners so you cannot switch between channels and maintain programming.
A 'work around' is explained in this thread: Pause live TV and change channels

It is important to note that Verizon FIOS is traditional cable TV whereas U-verse is IPTV. With FIOS, all channels are delivered to your residence at the same time. With U-verse, only those channels that your are tuned to or recording are delivered to your residence.

Ok... thanks for the response. So it sounds like this is an inherent characteristic of AT&T. Have to say it's unfortunate. It's so essay to accidentally hit the remote when you don't mean to. Hitting record every time I watch TV is not really an option as I always pause live TV and often don't realize I am about to be sucked into something that I want to watch. I did enjoy not having an issue with this when I had Fios.

Here is a work around. If you have two or three stbs set one on one channel and another on a different channel. You can switch back and forth between those two channels and rew back to see what you have missed. As long as the channels on those other stbs are not changed. I do it sometimes. Or you can start a recording on the other two channels and switch back and forth between the recordings. It may not be popular but they work.

Paused Live TV programs will also be lost if you don't get it watched before "all streams" become in use. That happened to me the other night with Jeopardy! I paused the 7:30 show at about 7:40 and didn't start watching it until 7:55. At 7:59 it got bumped with the "this TV has been interrupted notice. I lost out.
Jeopardy! is now series recorded. ![]()
