I turned off my TV about midnight Thursday after watching all evening.
I turn it on Friday morning and there was no sound. I did not change any setting.
The TV is not on MUTE. The internal and external speakers are set to ON.
I plugged an older TV in to the DVR using an old COAX. I get no sound from it either.
My big set is a Panasonic plasma about 6 years old.

One possibility is the STB got set to mute by corruption of a different remote function, THe remote is programmed to set mute on the TV. To change it to the STB - att/ok - 955 - att - enter
Then try the mute button & volume up to 25
To retore the TV setting - att/ok - 955 - tv - enter
If that does not work try a reboot of the STB by pulling the power feed.

We have a TH-42px75u series, which is about the same age.
"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

That happens to me once in a while, I just change the channel and go back and the sound is fine. Have you tried that?

The enter button is last (bottom) button on the right.
Sounds like you have the same TV - Could be a problem with the TV - although you say you did not get any sound out of the STB into another TV.
I looked at a TV once that lost sound from the speakers, but the RCA jack output still worked - feeding another TV. You could try that.

I normally use extension speakers that sit near where I sit. No sound there either.
I played a DVD and got sound so the speakers are OK.
