Setting up your Chromecast

You can set up your Chromecast in a snap using either an Android or iOS phone or tablet or a Mac, Windows or Chromebook computer running Chrome 28 or higher. You only need to set up your Chromecast once - you can cast from additional supported devices without having to set up Chromecast again. Before you begin the setup process, make sure you are connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi network.

Common Issues: Chromecast not detected on device

Chromecast works mainly with a 2.4Ghz connection on a b/g/n network. If you are using a 5Ghz network or a 802.11AC connection, there will be possible issues with your device detecting your Chromecast.

  • Try using another device, such as a cell phone, tablet, or another computer
  • Disable the 5Ghz and wireless N capabilities on your router
  • Reset your Chromecast

Hold down the button (next to the micro USB port) on your Chromecast for at least 25 seconds or until the solid light begins flashing.
    Disconnect the USB power cable.
Wait a few seconds and connect the USB cable again.
