They're broadcasting the Today show from the new Dallas Cowboy's Stadium this morning. Wow, what a building and at $1.12 billion a pricey one at that. Huge at 3 million square feet and has 1,700 bathrooms. They showed them opening the retractible roof too which was awesome.
The stadium also has the largest HDTV screen in the world. You can fit 2,000 - 52" TV's on each side and it weighs the same as a 747 jet.

That HD TV would do for an entire neighborhood.
Hey.....gang.....I've got to try and send you this funny.....if I can get it to copy and paste. May not work. I make no claims to the historical accuracy.....but it's funny.....I think. Let me know if it doesn't show up correctly.

The U. S. S. Constitution (Old Ironsides), as a combat vessel, carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators (i.e. fresh water distillers).
However, let it be noted that according to her ship's log, "On July 27, 1798, the U.S.S. Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and 79,400 gallons of rum."
Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping."
Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and 68,300 gallons of rum.
Then she headed for the Azores , arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine.
On 18 November, she set sail for England . In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war and captured and scuttled 12 English merchant ships, salvaging only the rum aboard each.
By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, although unarmed she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. Her landing party captured a whisky distillery and transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. Then she headed home.
The U. S. S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February 1799, with no cannon shot, no food, no powder, no rum, no wine, no whisky, and 38,600 gallons of water..

It's funny already Phil and what a thirsty crew! ![]()
Not seeing any pics yet and don't know if they have to approved first. There's just a red dot/ in a small box in upper left corner of the blank photo box.
My wife drinks rum like an old pirate and have told her that. Her answer, "I always wanted to be a pirate!" Guess she even wore a pirate outfit as a kid during Halloween trick-or-treat. ![]()

If the troops could drink in the two wars we are in now they would be over.
Good post Phil even without the pictures.
On another topic
The USB mouse on my computer has been acting up for months and it failed last night. It turned out it was the conductors in the cord going open. It was breaking down where it came in the front and made a 90° turn. It now comes out the side with splicing beans on the wires. All the stuff I learned at work finally came in handy. ![]()

Well...fortunately the pictures weren't really necessary. After I posted it...they were there.....then the first one disappeared.....now neither one is there. Hmmmmm. It was a straight copy and paste from an e-mail so I really did not expect them to show up. At least the text did.
Fabulous weather here in Missouri. We had a low of 46.5 degrees last night and now it is up to 79.7 deg. under bright sunny skies. And the grass just keeps growing....

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas
At the opening session of their Senate.
It seems prayer still upsets some people.
When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate,
everyone was expecting the usual generalities,
but this is what they heard:
Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness
and to seek your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,'
but that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium
and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor
and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness
and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn
and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists
and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children
and called it building self esteem..
We have abused power
and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions
and called it ambition .
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography
and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers
and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today;
cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Amen!
The response was immediate.
A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest.
In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor,
logged more than 5,000 phone calls
with only 47 of those calls responding negatively.
The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer
from India , Africa and Korea .
Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,'
And received a larger response to this program than any
other he has ever aired.
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation
and wholeheartedly become our desire
so that we again can be called 'one nation
under God.'

Phil, also noticed the truck with the Texas ad. My 89 year old Mom emailed me that video and I thought the title was very funny/misleading.
I personally don't believe in feeding wildlife except for birds and maybe squirrels. It causes a lot of problems, especially for the animals that get used to humans, and then may be hunted or become dangerous. And like you said about all the scat left behind and who's going to clean it up? Think the goose crap in the parks, and anywhere near water, is a nationwide problem too. Don't need to be feeding those fowl to bring even more of them in.
Think it's great you clean up after Alfie and I do the same with Charlie. We even provided rolls of plastic bags at the pet trail heads of the parks I worked at. Every conscientious pet owner should clean up after their pets.
The park district I worked for had a strict "do not feed the wildlife" policy that people could not understand and would constantly break this rule. They would hand feed the deer potato chips and other junk food. Here's a good example why this is not a good idea.
One of our naturalists was taking a group of 30 preschoolers (4-5 yr. olds) on a fall leave hike on one of the trails. All the kids had plastic grocery bags for collecting colorful leaves off the ground. It just happeded to be during the deer breeding season (rut). A large doe came walking right up to them thinking the rustling bags were full of chips/snacks. The naturalist caught a movement out of the corner of her eye and there stood a huge 10 pt buck. The doe wanted some chips, the buck wanted the doe, and there stood a bunch of little kids right between them. The naturalist yelled "run" and they dashed down the trail as the big buck ran full speed between the kids. A scary situation and luckily nobody was hurt.

To change the subject a bit (oh I've got goose poop stories too. We used to live on a lake)
Have any of you checked out the UV tab on your AT&T/Yahoo web page recently? You know....the one where you go to program your DVR remotely.
Well.....I noticed that the color of the Yahoo logo has changed from red to purple so I clicked onto the page to see if there were any other things I was missing. Haven't looked there in many moons.
Go to U-verse and check out AT&T Entertainment and U-connect. I did not realize these services were available. Geez there are a lot of programs available there....complete with alphabetical guide. Movies on demand on the U-connect tab too. Looks like they have more than one program service available. I saw the Hulu name several places. Guess I need to purchase another HDMI cable and a switch so I can feed my laptop into our Sony big screen. When we travel and are staying in one of those motels where the TV service is terrible.....if I have wireless service available....we'll have lots of stuff to watch on the laptop. My wife's laptop has a 16" screen so it wouldn't be too bad in a pinch. I guess I was kind of impressed when I found this stuff. Has it been there a while and I'm just discovering it? Or, is this all new?

Spd did make 6-7 posts in the wee hours last night.
Sent him an email 3-4 days ago asking if he was ok.
He finally replied today and said he is really feeling bad. Didn't elaborate.
Wishing him the best whatever is going on.

No new computers here, been cleaning up my messy office! Got rid of old W2K Dell (slow processor) and CRT monitor. BB charges $10 to recycle, but gives you $10 gift cards, so better than nothing. Nobody wants old desktops or monitors, I tried. BB allows 2 items per day. Sold the old Dell flat panel for $25, again, better than nothing. Really like new monitor, it's WS, so no more tireless scrolling left-to-right!
Sold all cassettes, VHS, and some old books at Half Price Books...not for much, but better than nothing...
Now to disassemble a big table I no longer need...more room for cat boxes.
Roof is on, Leo is back in gen-pop, LOL! Biopsy next Mon. ![]()
