I splurged and bought a 16GB touch.  The new software makes it a multitasker for me so I can justify the expense.

It's 54 here at 10:50 and the low overnight is forecast to be 19. I can see by my Vista sidebar that it is 25 in Kendallville, Indiana which is about 3 hours west of here, so the chill is racing this way.

How do you like the Touch?  From what I understand it's an iPhone without the phone part?

Well, since UU is still down, I guess I will post my HDD update here for now.

I finally called in today after my RAID controller literally threw a fit with the 'new' drive that they sent me 2 weeks ago.  It said it had over 2,000 bad sectors and it kept saying that the drive had failed in the logs.  I called Seagate asking them to waive the fee for the 'advanced replacement' option (they send a drive out 2 day air, then I send the broken one back using a pre-paid ground label), since I didn't feel like the $20 I paid the first time for a defective drive was reasonable.  They initially said no, but I worked my way up the ladder and the guy finally came to an improvise.  He said that he can e-mail me a shipping label for 2-day air to send in the drive, then have them send a 'new' (refurbished) drive back 2-day air free of charge once they receive and process the old drive (~24 hrs from time they receive it).  I still would have liked it to have the advanced replacement option, but they weren't going to budge, and I need my computer for college classes (only one that has office 2007, and I am taking a word 2007 class...Very easy but it is required for my degree).  The label was in my inbox quick enough for me to get it down to the mail-room before UPS had gotten there, so now the waiting game starts...With any luck, I will have it sometime next week.

As I said on the other forum, I am now afraid of RAID.  I still haven't set up the 1T external yet (it's RAID).  No idea what was wrong with it, why it wouldn't work?

Oh, the RAID doesn't scare me at all, in fact, it is my savior right now as I have college stuff on there that I don't really want to lose...Plus, re-installing Vista and all of my programs from the ground up is no 'quick and easy' task.

I don't know about your external.  Aliens get ahold of it for a night?  What happens when you try to use it?  I am sure you posted it somewhere...probably on UU so I can't bring it up real quick to refresh my mind if I have read it before

No, I haven't done anything with it as it's open and still in the box.  2 out-of-commission desktops...not much use trying to set anything up until I get the HDDs back in.

Well I just got my computer back. It works fine now (knock on wood). I noticed they replaced the old disc drive with a Lite-On. I'm surprised how fast it burns. My old one never even got past 25x even though it had a max of 48x.

Possibly, but would drivers affect the speed?

Or maybe new firmware.  Most people don't know that drive manufacturers make updated firmware for their drives.  Here is a website with a lot of drives on it.
