Happy Independence Day, everyone!

Home Depot actually had some nice US Flags on sale, so I decided to buy one and put it out on my house. My parents & grandparents used to do this on most holidays, but I think it's become less common these days. Anyway, I think it looks good, maybe some others in my neighborhood will follow ...

And nice Crepes! We have an annual parade here and kids decorate their bikes, those too young for bikes decorate wagons (that adults have to pull). Always have flags stuck in the ground to decorate the streets. Fire trucks start it off with the horns blaring...actually slept through it all this morn.

Thanks! They actually didn't do too well the past couple years, but this year I didn't cut them back too much and I bought some special crepe myrtle fertilizer at Cornelius Nursery. I think it worked. The things are about to take over my porch.

By the way, technology has really come a long way ... I took that picture with my phone. (And had to reduce it in size by a factor of 4).

I just bought some of that food last week! Mine are in a row but over 2 stories high...guess I'll need to fertilize the whole bed. Good to know it works though; mine are too big to cut back every year.

Fireworks going off like gangbusters here. Bah, humbug!!!!! Even poor Belle has come to be with us and she's the former wildwoman from outdoors!

Tomorrow I'll be collecting others' crap in my yard...and throwing it back into theirs after dark.

Ever notice how people don't put fireworks off in their OWN yard?
