Those switching or threatening to switch to DirecTV should be aware of this:
Fox says that DirecTV is threatening to pull the plug on its national and regional cable networks on Nov. 1 unless a new carriage fee agreement can be reached.
In a statement on a site set up by the satellite provider, DirecTV CEO Mike White says that Fox parent News Corp. "has demanded that DirecTV customers pay nearly 40% more for the same channels they already received. If a new deal is not reached, we will be forced to suspend the channels as early as Nov. 1."
The networks affected include FX, National Geographic Channel, Speed, Fuel TV, Fox Soccer, Fox Soccer Plus, Fox Movie Channel, Fox Deportes and the 19 Fox regional sports networks.

How would that affect their Sunday Ticket, since many games are on FOX?

I don't think this affects the local Fox affiliates.

Once again, sounds like being driven by sports content. Can't blame News Corp from trying to get a piece of ESPN's little gold mine.
Wonder if News Corp will pull their FSN-provided programming from DirecTV's ROOT RSNs.

While it seems that this statement is redundant in this thread, I just realized that one of the mods moved it here because it was originally a new thread in the programming forum.

Nice long thread about this over at dbstalk.com, the satellite website I used to frequent back in my DirecTV days. I better give my sister a heads up. She has DirecTV & is a big race fan. She will NOT be happy if she looses Speed Channel.

This is funny because last October 2010 these same channels were pulled from Dish Network for about a month if I remember correctly (except I think that the local Fox channels were also part of the dispute I believe). I saw a commercial about this yesterday while watching football from Dish Network telling DirecTV customers to switch to them saying they don't have issues like this. I remember all other carriers like DirecTV, Time Warner, etc.(U-verse included) that ran similar ads to what Dish Network is running now.

Of course some people will come in here and blame AT&T for the channels on Direct TV. Especially if they ordered Direct from AT&T.

I'm surprised you don't here more about sponsors getting involved in these carriage disputes, after all, they're potentially losing millions of viewers for the commercials they pay big bucks for.

Looks like Directv and News Corp/Fox have reached a deal. http://news.bostonherald.com/business/media/view.b
