Finally, been waiting for Episode 7 forever. There are way to many books following Return of the Jedi to not keep up the series.

I remember reading that episode 7 was supposed to be about Luke training Han and Leia's twins. It will be interesting to see who they get to take on those roles. It will be interesting to see how this all works out.

I would love to see a new SW movie and on another note it was said that Harrison Ford would like to make one more Indianna Jones movie.

Booooorrrrring.
Original trilogy set the standard for this franchise, and even at that, Return of the Jedi was a bit weak in parts.
The 2nd trilogy was entirely forgettable, especially the first two films. The third one was better but still didn't measure up.
Where's Disney to go but further down?

I liked John Carter and thought that was a good sci-fi.

Amen to that.
On the money side though, I heard this will make George L worth more than Bill G, and the Star Wars franchise is expected to make Disney somewhere in the range of ~$8B in the next 10 years.

The sale is only 4.02 BIllion, so George has a long ways to go.
As for the movies, there are plenty or really good books following RTOJ that continue to story and make true Star Wars fans, such as myself happy. IMHO, Empire Strikes Back is still the BEST Star Wars movie ever, followed by A New Hope, (Ep. IV) then Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, Attack of the Clones, then Phantom Menace.

Ah Disney. We will find out that Luke had a sordid affair ... he will come back and say "Mickey! I am your father!"

I'm not sure that even Disney can equal the mediocracy that was Episodes I through III. The transition from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader was so dissatisfying. I drug my mother to watch A New Hope in the theaters. I just can find it in me to make my wife watch Revenge of the Sith.
That said, there is a huge mountain of fiction out there for the time beyond Episode VI. Most of it in better keeping with the Star Wars Canon than Episode I - III upon release. I just wonder what they'd pick. Some of it is excellent (anything written by Zahn). A lot of it is good. Some of it is just as good as Episode I-III. And there is worse.

I agree with S.J. When Disney gets hold of things.....count on any serious Science Fiction being extremely unlikely. I remember reading many years ago that Lucas originally had planned 9 feature length episodes. But it didn't happen. Broken marriage.....plus other problems generated by the strain of all that work might have had something to do with him trimming it down to 6 episodes. Anyway....Dune was more to my liking. But really meaningful science fiction rarely makes it off the pages of books it is written in......rarely into the movie versions. There are exceptions of course. The first War of the Worlds film was a pretty good version of the original H.G. Wells story. The original Day the Earth Stood Still, starring Michael Rennie was also good. #2 stunk in both films. I also get somewhat upset by the constant mixing of real science fiction with fantasy junk.

Have you seen the "Clone Wars" animated serial they've been running for a few years on Cartoon Network?
I think Disney would have done a better job.

Remember when Disney bought Marvel how everyone and their grandmother was complaining that they would screew things up and turn Spider-Man into another super kid-friendly version of Mickey Mouse?
Now go back to the not to distant past and look at what currently is the highest grossing movie this year. Is it a Marvel movie? And doesn't Disney own Marvel? Did they screw up the property or treat it right and make a movie that wouldn't have ever happened if Marvel was still its own company.

I agree, I think Disney will do a great job of bringing the Star Wars universe back in line with what true fans feel it should be.

Jeffer, when I reached adulthood I gave up animated films....refuse to spend my money on them. But, of course, my young sons loved them when they were little. Thinking about it.....I don't believe my wife and myself have been to see a movie in a theater in 6 or 7 years.....probably one of the last of the Star Trek films.

I have a 4 year old and we've taken him to see Cars 2 and I loved it. Some of the Pixar films are really good. Going to take my son to see Wreck it Ralph this weekend.
