Wireless????

We are having u-verse installed next week and I'm a little confused about it being wireless. Does this mean that it is not hooked up by cables. Will we be able to have the computer and tv well away from each other? I would appreciated any input on this subject so I'm ready for them when they come.

Your computers can be wireless IF they have a wireless card; if not, ATT usually hands out USB adapters/cards.

TV boxes are NOT wireless (though there have been rumors for a while).

TVs will be hooked up via existing coax or with Ethernet.

Usually a cost for ATT to drop Ethernet in walls (sometimes not, or can do it yourself).

EACH TV needs a Uverse box. You CANNOT just plug coax into your TV and get Uverse.

There is a modem/router/gateway with built-in wireless. It can be placed by a TV or computer, think most of us have it by our computer. Only 4 Ethernet ports on back of that device, so depending on how many computers you have or TVs connected via Ethernet, you'll need a switch to handle the overflow.

Some people have been field-testing them for a while, but yes, they just became available for everyone.
