Hi everyone,
Just bought an Actiontec GT701D modem, approved for use on ATT DSL, to use for my new Uverse internet...I know that the two services use different technologies, but should the GT701D be working anyway? I can't get it to talk to the DSL line. Thanks!
Fin

"Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool!
Stimpy: So what'll happen?
Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?"

What modems can I use for UVerse? Because, 2 weeks in, I'm already tired of the stock 2wire piece of junk.
That may be your opinion, but the Pace/2-Wire modems are far from being junk.

You can add your own Access Point onto the RG to expand its capabilities, or place another router behind it, but you cannot replace the RG with another product that is not leased by ATT.

Yeah, I think thats what I meant...its white and says 2 wire on the top.
I have a linksys e2000 behind it, in access point mode(DD-WRT hacked). Internet is alright, not great. Getting very close to download speed(getting average of like 17.3mb on an advertized 18mb connection. Upload is slow though. Getting 1.25mb average. Ping is alright at 40ms.
Just find its not quite as fast as the comcast internet that I previously had, I'm guessing due to the upload speed. Is 1.25mb pretty much the limit in terms of DSL connections?

Just connect the e2000 on the iNID on a Switch, and if you want, you can still use the i38hg if you have UVerse phone, otherwise you do not have to, if you do not have telephone service through UVerse. Your upload speed, depends on what you are paying for. If you wish, you can check your speed with testmy.net and compre to the speed test over at speakeasy.net.
Also, you can check for any errors or problems with your line, with UVerse Realtime, which can be downloaded from http://www.uvrealtime.com .
