Has anyone tried using a Cisco 1800/2800 configured with an HWIC-1ADSL module to connect to the U-verse standalone Internet service, or will AT&T not allow anything other than their required gear?
FYI, I am switching from AT&T DSL Pro to the U-verse Elite 6M service, purchasing the 2Wire 3600HGV device.
TIA
John

No other VDSL device will come up on AT&T's network other than their 2Wire units. They perform 802.1x authentication using an X.509 certificate that's in their firmware. VDSL interfaces without the certificate will come up with a VDSL signal but won't get network access.
Use the 2Wire 3600 with the DMZ mode, and put your Cisco behind it, it will work very well.
DMZ mode instructions are here:
A representative Cisco IOS configuration for a 2800 is 2 posts below that.
