NVG589 - Router with secret non-published instructions on how to setup firewall tunnels.

NVG589 Setting Up MS Remote Desktop(or any other service)

I am unable to get anything to pass from the outside thru the router.  I have created a custom service, assigned custom ports to the desired named device, but no signal gets thru.  I cannot find any instructions on the help pages of the router that describe any additional steps.  I cannot get Remote Desktop nor any other service to pass thru.   Please explain any additional steps.

Have the same problem with the NVG589. The 3800/3801 worked great, but this one forget it. And the NVG589 suppose to be better.

Thank you for the link.  I reviewed the link document, and according to the user's manual, I set it up correctly, but it still does not work.

Essentially what I did was  a)  create a custom services  b)  assigned new custom service that directs everything from one specific port to a specific device (already on the network).   That it (according to the manua) . . . that should be enough to be working.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks,

All I can say is good luck. I have the same problem and have found no answers. Maybe I'll try and go back to the 3801 that worked great.

Without mentioning your external IP address, would you document what you have set up, including:

- RDP port on your internal host

- internal host IP and MAC

- ports that you mapped on the RG (inside and outside) (screen shot?)

- tested the RDP internally?

- what messages/behavior you get when you try to RDP from an exteral host
