Hi. I have uverse internet and voice and my RG is currently connected to a phone outlet. The phone outlet has 2 ports. My question is can I move my RG to a differerent room and just plug it into the phone port in that room or do I need to do something special. Also, since this new room only has a single phone port, can I use a Y splitter so I can use one port for the RG and the other for my phone (since I want to be able to use all the phone jacks in the house)? I tried to do this last night and kept getting a flashing red broadband light on the RG. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

No you can't just move the RG to another outlet. The reason where it is now has two plugs is because one of them feeds the signal to the RG from the NID (box outside your house) and the other one feeds the dial tone from the RG back out to the NID and then wires to all of the phone jacks in your house.
You will probably need to have a tech come out to move this arrangement to the new room unless you know phone cabling.

The phone jack that the RG is plugged into now is specifically wired to receive the U-verse signal. You cannot plug the RG into any other phone jack in the house.
If you what to move the RG to another room, contact U-verse Technical Support. There will be a charge sending a tech out to do rewiring to move the RG to another location.

Can I just buy two long RJ-11 phone cables to replace those short cables and move the RG to the other room?
Does these two RJ-11 cables have to have some special specifications for U-Verse Internet and Phone services?
I do not have TV service.
