How To Change Your Wi-Fi Password or Network Name

Changing your Wi-Fi Password or Network Name for the Pace/ 2Wire RG(modem) is as simple as downloading an app..... because there is an app for that!

Download our Smart Home Manager App Today!

You can also access Smart Home Manager by signing in via a browser. Check out the video to learn more about Smart Home Manager or visit our online support link

Manual Instructions Below

*Visit our NVG page to learn how to update your Wi-Fi Password.

To change your Wi-Fi Password on 2Wire/Pace follow these steps:

  1. Start by going to http://192.168.1.254
Note: you may be required to enter your Device Access Code in order to continue. The default Device Access Code can be found on the side of your gateway (this is not the same as your Wi-Fi password).
  2. Go to Settings > LAN > Wi-Fi
  3. Scroll down to User Network
    • Changes can be made to your Wi-Fi name under Network Name (SSID)
    • Changes can be made to your password under Wi-Fi Password
  4. Save all changes made to your device

In attempting to change my wifi password, I get to the screen Home Networ--Wireless but the WEP field and KEY field are grayed about, not allowing me to make a change. In fact it looks the same as your illustration., where the items are grayed. What should I do to allow me to enter into those fields? I'm attempting this with device NVG589. Thanks

If you do that, won't the IP Set Top Boxes be unable to access WiFi?  If so, how do you change the password there?

@Xnerd1963 - I guess the solution as described just doesn't work for you.  Maybe these instructions will.

You can do this workaround instead,

If you've already lost the sticker, there is no way for you to make any changes inside the modem interface without the device access code. You can either factory reset the modem (press Reset button at the back of the modem until all lights go off except for the Power. Roughly about 15-20secs.) then call tech support to ask for the default SSID (Wireless name) and Wireless Security key (Password) or you can just simply ask them to change it for you based on your own preference. Depending of the model of the modem, they have a way of personalizing your Wireless information remotely.

But of course, you would need to provide your 4-digit account passcode to the tech support operator in order for them to do any changes.

If you're a residential user, you can call them at 800-288-2020. If you're a Business, you can dial 877-503-2622 option 4.

About retreiving your Device Access Code, I am not possitive if they have access for that information.

I hope this helps. Cheers!

@Baldev - Try turning the radio on (enabled) first! Man Surprised  As for guest I am not sure it would have anything in it if you never set it before. And it too needs to be enabled to set or change it.
