Hi,
I'm looking for some sort of solution which will allow me to control my AT&T U-Verse reciever box without having to point my remote directly at it. I want to place the cable box inside a TV cabinet but having the cabinet door closed blocks the IR signal from the remote.
Are there any products out there which would allow me to do this? I read about the U-Verse Point Anywhere remote but that seems to have problems based on what I read.
Thanks

Try a Harmony remote. You can find them online as well as at Best Buy.

Just an FYI you'll need to get one of the more expensive Harmony remotes to have this work. The two remotes that Logitech currently sells with the RF technology are the Harmony 900 and the 1100. The RF system for the 1100 is sold separately. MSRP on both is these is $350 but I'm sure you can find them for cheaper if you look around. Amazon is showing the 900 at $230 with Prime shipping.
Another option is to buy a RF Repeater kit. This would require you to have a small IR receiver in view from the TV while everything else is hidden behind cabinets. Amazon has some kits around $40 and they work with your current remote.
Resident Xbox ACE. Ask me almost anything about U-Verse on the Xbox.

When friending me mention that you found me on the AT&T forums.

froggy47 has been working this - unhappy with the point anywhere - bought another brand of repeater - seems happy - If he sees this maybe he can share the brand.
I have a point anywhere that works OK - used it for over two years.
The U-verse app version 2.6 works better except it has no power button. If you can open cabinet and push power button to turn off it may be a good choice, Hopefully, this major oversight will be corrected soon. Of course, you need an iphone, ipad or ipod touch for the app. & it just does the STB - not the TV, which the point anywhere does & a repeater would.
The Harmony remote does not do this by itself. What you need is the repeater. There are a couple on the Logitech web site.
Plenty of repeaters around. They all do not work with the U-verse IR signal. Read reviews, ask mfgr or be ready to return it if it does n or work.
