Welcome to the new AT&T Community
We've got a fresh look! Take the tour to see what's new.
I received a wireless STB and hooked it up to a brand new Westinghouse uw40tc1w. I am able to set up the remote to turn off the TV while on the TV button, the box turns off with the ATT button, but when I set the remote to simultaneously turn off both (ATT/OK, 977, ATT button, TV button, Enter), it does not do the job. I spoke with tech support and they sent me a new black remote, saying the original one was not sending the signal properly. Didn't work with that one either. I took the remote and set it to another TV (Vizio)/regular STB and was able to program it to simultaenously turn off both items.
Anyone out there able to help? I appreciate any advice.

I would suggest that your try reprogramming the remote from the TV:
MENU > Help > System Set-up > Program your U-verse Remote
rms8085 - Very odd. Even stranger that it happens on two remotes.
You say it does not turn the TV off (only). So it turns it on?
You say it turns off when the TV button is active? So, it is sending the correct signal at that time.
When the TV is programmed it should turn on/off both TV and STB. So, the remote is set correctly.
You tried the specific power option & that appears correct.
When you press the power off does the att button light then the TV button? Just to be sure it is sequencing.
Are you keeping the remote aimed at the tv when the TV light is lit? Try it right up to TV sensor.
Thank you for your reply.
I tried starting with both the TV and STB off, would not turn ON the TV
When I press the ATT/Power button, the ATT button lights, then the TV button lights...but in a shorter interval.
Also tried getting right up to the box and nothing happens either.
Do you think this would have anything to do with the TV being mounted on a wall? Just grasping at straws.....
I've actually tried every Westinghouse code, and the ones that worked, I then tried to get the simultaneous on/off to work. Unfortunately, that didn't work either.
I like your idea of getting a different remote, and appreciate the detailed review/instructions. I'll swing by Radio Shack and grab a couple for my set-ups. $30 is worth it, especially if I can use it for everything. We have a pesky BOSE system that we've had to use separately also. Might as well get them all together.
Thanks again for your help!
