yet another USB port question

I've read in a few threads here that the USB port on the DVR can be used as a charger, but I was just wondering if anyone knew how much power it has.

I don't understand most of what I've read as part of my research in fixing a non-U-verse related problem, but it sounds as if different USB ports on a computer have different amounts of power (like 100 mA or 500 mA) so I'm thinking the DVR would be similar, right? I'm trying to get something that I got for Christmas charged and wasn't having luck on my computer so I thought I'd try the DVR.
